While it is true that on the first day of Week 4 (Super Week) of the VCT Americas, we had two very interesting games, there is no doubt that all eyes were on Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen’s debut with Sentinels against LOUD. Although the North American team lost to the Brazilians, Marved made a very good impression on the team and the fans.
It was not an easy debut, as Sentinels faced the runner-up of the VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023 and the reigning champion of the VALORANT Championship 2022. Moreover, with very little practice time together, Sentinels came close to surprising the Brazilians.
Marver is back with a bang
About a month ago, Marved signed with Sentinels as the sixth player in the lineup after Hunter “SicK” Mims (the team’s former sixth player) was arrested for breaking. However, Marved had not participated in any of the team’s official games, as the Sentinels lineup is considered very strong in the Americas region.
Less than a week ago, Sentinels announced the departure of its Head Coach, Donald “SyykoNT” Muir, and Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan took his place.
We have come to the difficult decision to part ways with Don @SyykoNT Muir. Adam @itskaplan Kaplan will be stepping in as head coach effective immediately.

A few hours later and, knowing the severity of the injury that Tyson “TenZ” Ngo had in one of his fingers, the organization decided to give the player a well-deserved rest and, Marved, who was the sixth player on the team, had to enter the lineup in this half of the season.

While it is true that Sentinels’ expectations against LOUD were completely low because, besides not having their star player TenZ, they were facing one of the strongest teams in the world. However, the North Americans managed to win the first map of the series, and Marved, their most recent addition, was the team’s most outstanding player.
Looking closely at Marved’s performance, we could think the player had not been inactive for a single day. This, without a doubt, was extremely positive for Sentinels, as he managed to win several 1v1s, made some outstanding plays, and his team play was phenomenal.

Sentinels guys inspired by Marved
Seeing the high level that Marved was showing, his teammates were encouraged and managed to row in the same direction. As a result, they won the first map, Haven, with an excellent score of 13-6.
In the second map (Haven), Sentinels also had the victory in their hands, as for some time, they were 10-8 ahead on the scoreboard. However, LOUD completely recovered and took the victory 13-11. Finally, in Ascent, the Sentinels didn’t have much to do despite Marved continuing to show an excellent level and fell by 8-13. Marved finished the series with 151 ADR, 233 ACS, and a 1.11 Rating, being the third-best player of the whole server. In addition, he had a KDA of 51/44/16.
