One of the most interesting matches of this tournament took place in the semifinals when G2 Esports faced Cloud9 in a mind-blowing BO3. However, on this occasion, the Cloud9 boys pulled out all the stops and the excellent individual level of each player to take a 2-1 victory.

As a result, Cloud9 becomes the tournament’s second finalist and will fight with BIG for the European quota for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2023 in the Grand Final in the next hours.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that G2 Esports would put up a fight from start to finish. However, Cloud9 showed a superior level of play, leading them to win this series and advance to the tournament’s Grand Final.

Now, without further ado, let’s see what happened in the series between G2 and C9 in the semifinals of the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023.

Cloud9 prevail against struggling G2 Esports

The second match of the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 semifinals gave us an excellent 2-1 win for Cloud9 over G2 Esports. While G2 put up quite a fight in winning the second map of the series, generally speaking, Cloud9 was a step above them every time.

The series took place on Anubis, Inferno, and Ancient.

Anubis

It all started on Anubis, Cloud9’s map pick, where Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov and Abay “HObbit” Khassenov carried the weight of C9 to lead them to an excellent 16-9 victory.

In the first half, G2 Esports started very well on their T Side, taking a 9-6 partial victory. However, this would remain there completely, as Cloud9’s offense was so spectacular and aggressive that, thanks to sh1ro and HObbit, they managed to win the first 10 rounds of the second half to seal their 16-9 victory.

Inferno

On the second map, Inferno, things took a 180° turn, as this time, G2 Esports did manage to materialize their victory after an imposing first half.

It all started with Justin “jks” Savage and G2 Esports deploying a spectacular offensive in the first half to take a solid victory with a 10-5 partial advantage. This undoubtedly gave the team much more determination and confidence for the rest of the game.

Then, at the change of sides, Cloud9 started to wake up little by little, and they evened the score 11-11 after winning 6 of the first 7 rounds played. However, the G2 defense stuck out its chest to repel the advances of C9 and thus took the victory by 16-13.

Ancient

Finally, the teams moved to Ancient, the Decider Map, where Cloud9 stepped up to seal their 2-1 victory and qualification to the tournament’s Grand Final.

In the first half, Cloud9, unlike the first two maps, managed to take a solid 10-5 partial victory. Moreover, this time, HObbit was in charge of preventing G2’s offensives.

Then, at the change of sides, G2 Esports tried to wake up to get back on the scoreboard, but their efforts were in vain. As a result, Cloud9 got an excellent 16-9 victory that qualifies them for the tournament’s Grand Final, where they will face BIG for a place in the Fall Finals 2023.
