TenZ takes a break during Super Week at VCT Americas

The first movements in Sentinels under the direction of Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan were not long in coming, as the new coach had taken matters into his own hands and made the first substitution. Tyson “TenZ” Ngo has been temporarily sent to the team’s bench to rest and recover from health problems that prevent him from competing at the highest level.

There is no doubt that this was coming in a few hours ago, as TenZ was playing with a hand injury last weekend. In addition, Sentinels has two really important games coming up this Super Week that could define the team’s future in the VCT Americas League.

Sentinels replaces TenZ in VALORANT’s lineup

In the last hours, the North American organization, Sentinels, has announced that TenZ has been temporarily benched, and Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen will replace him in the lineup.

According to the statement from the team’s Head Coach, Marved will only be playing during the two games of this Super Week. However, everything will depend on the player’s performance and the team’s results.

In the video, we see how Kaplan mentions that the team continues to “move forward at full speed.”. But, on the other hand, he also points out that this will not be a reboot in the lineup but rather a continuation of the work they have been doing since this squad was signed.

On top of all this, Kaplan makes mention that TenZ, the best player in the lineup, currently has COVID and, in addition, has an injury to one of his fingers that has prevented him from being at the highest level. Kaplan even said this injury was instrumental in how the game against Leviathan went the week before.

On the other hand, TenZ has also had to struggle with different personal problems and the fact that there is a lot of responsibility regarding Sentinels. Also present are the serious health problems that Kyedae, his fiancée, is going through.

Marved assumes role of controller

With this news, we can only think that it is a well-deserved rest for this player, who has had to deal with different situations at such a young age in recent weeks. But, on the other hand, we have that Marved will be the Sentinel’s starting player for the games against LOUD and MIBR.

Marved is no stranger to competition at the highest level. Likewise, the player started in 2023 without a contract with any organization, and it was not until March that he joined Sentinels as a sixth player. Let’s remember that Marved joined due to the different legal problems Hunter “SicK” Mims had at the time.

This move started to be rumored in the VALORANT community after Brazilian Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi was seen playing with Zachary “zekken” Patrone as Initiator. Recall that Sacy played that role in LOUD in the 2022 season. But he switched to Controller when he joined Sentinels.

The table is set for Sentinels to have Sacy as Initiator, Zekken as Duelist, and Marved as Controller, where he performed excellently at OpTic Gaming.
