MPL-PH: Minana EVOS claims S13 playoffs spot

The entire Minana EVOS roster can be assured this won’t be their last stint as they rout ONIC Philippines to a surprise sweep to secure one of two remaining MPL PH S13 playoff berths.

The White Tigers defeated the Sonics, 2-0, in a historic match that brought the team to its first-ever playoffs since Season 9, when the team was still known as Nexplay EVOS.

For this crucial match, Minana utilized its veteran player Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon and roamer John “Perkziva” Sumawan in place of the younger Brian “Spider-Milez” Santos and Lance “Lancecy” Cunanan.

Game 1 showed Minana EVOS in its most dominant form as Dominic “Domeng” del Mundo’s Harith became the most valuable hero in the round, where they scored a 16-4 score against Onic PH.

By Game 2, Haze and Perkz tag-teamed for an 18-minute beatdown of the Sonics, despite King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez getting the third Lord of that game and Jem “Jem” Lanojan and Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez being slayed by both Domeng and Haze.

It was a resounding Game 1 for Minana EVOS as Jan Dominic “Domeng” del Rosario led the men in purple to a 16-4 beatdown of the Sonics.

Head coach Christian “Bitoy” Casten said they really intended for Yellyhaze and Perkziva to play in that day’s match.

We really thought about it since last week. If you look at it, before the MPL started, we’re deciding who to best combine within our players in the stage. Then, LanceCy’s mother died so we decided for both Perkz and Haze to play,” Coach Bitoy told reporters in the post-match media scrum.

It can be recalled that Minana’s Nazer “Dogie” Mollazehi threatened the team that it will be their last season had they not qualified for the playoffs.

Now, it can be said that the Minana EVOS team are assured, MPL fans can see more of the White Tigers.
