FIFA 23: Players lose millions due to EA’s Hero Pack error

A FIFA 23 Hero Pack accidentally released by EA has caused players to lose millions of coins in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. The pack, which was available for a short time from 7 pm on Saturday night, offered players a tradeable FUT Hero player in FIFA 23, some of which are worth millions of coins, for 25,000 coins.

While EA corrected the error about 25 minutes after the pack’s release, that didn’t prevent millions of coins from FIFA Ultimate Team from being wiped out as players panic-sold their FUT Hero items due to the huge supply. On the other hand, there were some players who capitalized on the situation by exploiting this mistake made by EA.

Embarrassing mistake by EA with consequences

FUT Hero Items are extremely rare players found in certain packs in Ultimate Team. FUT Heroes Cards are awarded to players who have made a significant contribution to a club or have become iconic figures, such as former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.

Due to their incredible rarity, they are often extremely expensive in the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team virtual trade market. Some cards like Yaya Toure are sold for 1.9 million FUT coins, which is estimated at just under €400 on a well-known coin sale website.

However, with EA’s accidental release of this pack, a huge supply of these rare items flooded the market, resulting in a rapid drop in price. Some items depreciated by up to 1 million FUT Coins, which is around €200.

Permanent damage to the Fifa 23 trade market

EA has not yet commented on the error, however, the damage to the market is permanent. Most, if not all, players have taken a hit, and while the market has recovered somewhat following the removal of the pack and subsequent shortage of FUT Hero items, the loss in coins is irreversible.

Players who managed to purchase the pack are even luckier, as the pack was advertised as untradeable (meaning the item could not be sold on the trade market). In the past, in cases where a pack was sold with the wrong description, EA has typically compensated players with the original pack, meaning some players could get two FUT Hero Cards for as little as 25,000 coins if the developer decided to do so again.
