NRG has completed its VALORANT roster by announcing the arrival of Gage “Infinite” Green. The former CS:GO veteran becomes the organization’s fifth VALORANT player, with NRG having been taking advantage of stand ins at events over recent months. The 22-year-old will be hoping that his wealth of experience can make him a threat in VALORANT, having retired from CS:GO in order to focus on the Riot first-person shooter title.

Infinite competed for a host of teams during his time in CS:GO, however it was with Spacestation Gaming, Dignitas and Chaos Esports Club where he really made his name. His final spell in CS:GO came with the ex-Cloud9 team, before the American made his ambition to switch to VALORANT clear back in May.

How Infinite’s Move to NRG Came About

The former rifler and in-game leader has already competed in some smaller VALORANT events, before returning to CS:GO after he was unable to nail down a spot in a starting lineup. Upon his return, Infinite won many tournaments, including with Swole Patrol and Ze Pug Godz. However, upon the ex-Cloud9 roster being acquired by Extra Salt on December 12, he was forced into a decision.

Infinite was ultimately left without a team following his exclusion from the transition to Extra Salt, with NRG having handed the veteran a lifeline. The deal therefore suits both parties, with NRG having needed a fifth and final player for their roster, while Infinite was at something of a crossroads after his most recent ventures.

What Role Infinite Will Play at NRG

NRG recently moved Yannick “KOLER” Blanchette to its inactive roster, with the Canadian having only arrived at the organization from Immortals back in October. It is thought that Inifinite’s ability as an in-game leader, as well as his skills with both Cypher and Killjoy will be a major asset. Many have already made the assumption that it will be with Killjoy where Infinite spends the majority of his time for NRG, given the fact that Damian “daps” Steele will have priority with Cypher.

It will certainly take time for NRG to gel as a lineup, however the arrival of Infinite should stand them in good stead for upcoming events.
