The CDL 2023 Stage 3 Major Qualifiers have kicked off with a bang, and the first week of these qualifiers has already ended. There is no doubt that these were amazing and monumental days, which left us with several surprises in every way.

Some took a step forward, like the New York Subliners and Boston Breach, while others, like the Mutineers, are still at the bottom of the table.

Two Majors, two champions, will this trend continue?

This season we have enjoyed two spectacular Majors that have left us with two different champions. This trend is likely to continue from what we have seen in the first week of the online qualifiers for Major III.

We can realize that in this season, we do not have a team that is more powerful than the rest or that is simply favorite to take the trophy. All of the teams at the top of the overall CDL standings can win a championship. However, it is a completely different story at the opposite end of the table.

New York and Boston start with a bang

The Subliners and the Breach kicked off these online qualifiers for the 2023 CDL Major III with their entire arsenal available. The New Yorkers have managed to stay firmly at the top of the table since the first Major played since they were champions in that edition.

The Subliners have obtained favorable results throughout the season, and this first week of the online qualifiers has been no exception. They were able to crush both the Minnesota RØKKR and the Florida Mutineers in this first week. This has been a tough blow for the Mutineers, who are still unable to compete at the best level despite all the changes in their roster.

On the other hand, Boston Breach did their own thing at the start of the online qualifiers. The Breach continues to be a very powerful force within the CDL despite the departure of Anthony “Methodz” Zinni in Major 2. Fortunately for the team, they managed to get two comfortable wins against Toronto Ultra and London Royal Ravens.

Finally, we can’t overlook the big win for Las Vegas Legion against Los Angeles Thieves. With a very bold display, Legion was able to get a great victory that affirms that in this Major III, anything can happen, and any team can win the champions trophy.

Many changes for this CDL Major III

Many teams made changes in their lineup for this new Major. The most recent was Eli “Standy” Bentz, who was benched by Toronto Ultra this weekend.

The season is progressing, and many fans are waiting to see what will happen with their favorite teams.

For example, in this first week, we had the Major II Grand Final rematch between the Los Angeles Thieves and Atlanta FaZe. However, this time it was the Californian team that was able to command the match, and they took a comfortable victory with a score of 3-1.

Week 2 of the CDL 2023 Stage 3 Major Qualifiers brings interesting matches such as:

  • Atlanta FaZe vs. London Royal Ravens
  • Toronto Ultra vs. OpTic Texas
  • Seattle Surge vs. LA Thieves
  • New York Subliners vs. Toronto Ultra

The current standings are as follows:

  1. New York Subliners – (2-0) – 20p
  2. Boston Breach – (2-0) – 20p
  3. Seattle Surge – (1-0) – 10p
