The LEC continues its course, and we are about to reach the tournament’s grand finale, where G2 Esports is comfortably waiting for its rival to be defined today, Saturday, February 25.
Now, before reaching this grand final, the teams have to fight tooth and nail to achieve it, and only two contenders have the chance to join G2 in the last match of this Split, MAD Lions, and KOI.
The most important League of Legends tournament in the EMEA region had a spectacular and exciting night in the match corresponding to the Lower Bracket semifinals between MAD Lions and SK Gaming. In this match, the lions roared louder and took the victory 3-2 against SK Gaming, which never ceases to surprise.

MAD Lions beats SK Gaming and stays alive in this LEC Winter Split 2023
Undoubtedly, both SK Gaming and MAD Lions lived up to this match. Both teams fought from start to finish to take the victory and gave us five matches in these semifinals that, without a doubt, will not be erased from our minds for a long time.
As we mentioned, MAD Lions was the one that hit the table in the fifth match to advance to the finals of the Lower Brakect against KOI. There is no doubt that this match will also be a thriller.
A true match between MAD Lions and SK Gaming
MAD Lions took the lead in the series, as they dominated the first game with Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon’s K’Sante, Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov’s Karma and Javier “Elyoya” Prades’ Elise. However, being the Spanish Elyoya, the best of this first match ended with a score of 2/1/7.

After the resounding victory in the series’ first game, the Spanish team’s spirit did not last long, as SK Gaming reacted immediately. Thomas “Exakick” Foucou, with Zeri and Daniel “Sertuss” Gamani, continued to demonstrate their exceptional level of play and were utterly flawless in this second game. In just 27 minutes, the Germans could even the series 1-1 against the Spaniards.

As if the emotions had not been few, MAD Lions completely crushed those 27 minutes received in the second game. The Spanish reacted with a Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság and his Draven, who did not let SK advance and constantly punished the Germans to put MAD Lions ahead in the series 2-1.

With the dream of being in the Lower Bracket Finals more alive than ever, MAD Lions stumbled again against a Sertuss playing at an exceptional level in Game 4. The SK Gaming Mid Laner gave a lecture on how Azir should be used in Summoner’s Rift and managed to force the fifth and decisive match of the series.

The Spaniards roared to victory in the deciding match
In the last game of the series, the one that defined everything, we could enjoy a strong performance by Elyoya, who was decisive in the first minutes of the game and thus put his team on the road to victory. However, Chasy (Jayce) ended the German team’s aspirations.
Finally, we enjoyed what was to be one of the best series of this entire LEC Spring Split 2023. The five games that MAD Lions and SK Gaming played will remain in the minds of all League of Legends lovers. There is no doubt about that.
The Germans gave it their all in this game since they were sure they would advance to the Lower Bracket finals. We could see this in more detail in the images of Mark “Markoon” van Woensel trying to comfort Sertuss.
We are heartbroken. This playoffs run meant so much to us, but no matter the result, we're proud of how far we made it. We proved so many people wrong and showed that we are much more than they expected us to be. Next split, we'll take home the trophy! 💜 #LEC pic.twitter.com/El9WizdfU0
