Golden Guardians promote ADC Stixxay to LCS roster

Golden Guardians have announced that their ADC for the LCS Summer split will be veteran player Trever “Stixxay” Hayes.

Fans didn’t have to wait long to find out who Golden Guardians were planning to field in the bot lane for the LCS Summer split. Just one day after moving on from Lawrence “Lost” Hui, the team announced his replacement by veteran bot laner Stixxay.

Stixxay returns to the LCS

Stixxay is a name synonymous with the LCS. His career in the league began in 2015 when he joined Counter Logic Gaming. During his stint with CLG, the team qualified for Worlds and finished second at MSI 2016.

Following the 2020 season, Stixxay joined Golden Guardians as the org rebuilt following the sale of its roster to 100 Thieves. However, 2021 was a low point for the Guardians who finished 8th in the combined standings. Stixxay chose to step away from the Rift after the season and joined the Guardians’ coaching staff for 2022. He also spent time playing with the Golden Guardians Academy team during the 2022 Spring split.

The organization now looks to the veteran player to help prolong the team’s momentum following the Spring split where they achieved a fifth-place finish.

Fans divided on Stixxay move

The reaction to the announcement has been mixed within the Golden Guardians fanbase. Some fans point to Stixxay’s stats from the recent LCS Academy Spring split, where he played 29 games and had a league-highest KDA of 5.9. However, others have viewed the move as detrimental to the team going forwards. In particular, fans have pointed to the young talent the Guardians had in their system.

Stixxay had a 3.6 KDA in his last LCS split (Summer 2021) but is known for champions such as Kallista and Tristana, who have been seen to have good utility in the current meta. Fans will get to see if Stixxay was the right call by Golden Guardians when the LCS Summer split begins on June 18.
