The MongolZ took the world of Counter-Strike by surprise close to a year ago. They signed a little-known roster in April – May 2023 and started to win against a lot of teams who were supposed to be much stronger than them.

This continued until the team reached the top twenty in global rankings, which happened in August 2023. After that, they rapidly declined again and by October, The MongolZ was ranked 50th.

Then another series of good results brought them back near the top, so everyone knew that 2024 was going to be a good year for this roster if the motivation to achieve great results would be strong.

The MongolZ won the Asia-Pacific RMR for PGL Major Copenhagen and then finished 15th – 16th at the biggest event of the year, demonstrating that they had what it takes to beat some of the world’s best competitors.

Immediately after that result, they qualified for ESL Challenger Jonkoping and Esports World Cup 2024, proving once again that they’re the strongest team in Asia. So when ESL Pro League S19 began, a lot of teams in group A knew that they would be very hard to defeat.

MongolZ’s Results at EPL S19

The MongolZ started the tournament with a victory against Team Falcons. The match was tough for both teams and needed three maps to conclude: 3 – 13 on Mirage, 13 – 9 on Nuke, and 11 – 13 on Ancient. These scores clearly indicate just how close Falcons were to winning. But, despite having the world’s best coach, they still lost.

The Asian crew was carried by Echno, 910, and Senzu. These players are starting to make a name for themselves in Europe.

In their next match, The MongolZ encountered G2 Esports and everyone, myself included, was convinced that NiKo and m0NESY would teach them a lesson. But the exact opposite happened and the scores were very one-sided: 4 – 13 on Ancient and 7 – 13 on Anubis. The entire MongolZ roster played well but the best player by far was 910: 37 – 16.

Thanks to this victory, the Asians are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs of ESL Pro League S19 but they will still need to play one last match against Team Vitality to see who will advance to the quarterfinals. If ZywOo’s team gets defeated too, I think we have a dark horse here.
