Xtreme Gaming has started rebuilding its Dota 2 roster, bringing two legends of the game into the team.

It hasn’t been easy for Chinese Dota 2 fans in recent years. The last time a team from the region won The International was Wings Gaming in 2016, after which PSG.LGD finished runner-up twice in 2018 and 2021 and took third place in 2019.

Moreover, Chinese fans were also disappointed after the recent Lima Major. Although the Chinese teams looked promising in the Dota Pro Circuit Winter Tour 2023, EHOME and Knights only finished in last place in the end. PSG.LGD made it to ninth place and Team Aster to seventh, leaving a lot to be desired in the eyes of Dota 2 fans. But the Knights have also been accused and investigated for cheating and rigging Dota League games. After the Lima Major, the team suddenly disbanded.

Is there a new superteam forming now?

New superteam in Dota?

A difficult time for Dota fans, but there is also good news. Now a new team is emerging under the banner of Xtreme Gaming and some legendary players are joining the lineup. A new team has been built, consisting of pros Daniel “Ghost” Chan, Zhang “Paparazi灬” Chengjun, Thiay “JT-” Jun, Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi and Ding “Dy” Cong.

But not all the players are new to the team. Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng has replaced Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan, who left the Chinese organization earlier this week after Xtreme Gaming finished fifth in the DPC CN 2023 Tour One: Division One.

Legend LaNm returns to pro play as a coach

Legendary player LaNm has been active on the scene as a player and coach since 2011 and will be coaching the new roster effective immediately. His experience has contributed a lot to Team Aster’s success in the last two years. He has not played competitively since TI11, but now returns. Former coach bLink is leaving the team for health reasons after being with the organization for more than two years.

After the organization parted ways with bLink and Pyw, Xtreme has brought two Dota 2 veterans to the team to elevate the team’s performance to a higher level. Kaka’s role at position four will be interesting considering Dy and Pyw have played in more than 700 games together as a duo in three years.

The team will play in the DPC CN 2023 Tour Two: Division One in the coming weeks, and if they match up well, there’s definitely a chance they’ll finish at the top of the standings.
