The different scandals around different esports organizations continue, specifically in Dota 2. For the second time in a short time, the Chinese team is involved in a cheating controversy.

At this time, it seemed that things could not go worse for Knights, as let’s remember that they were accused of using hacks on some Chinese DPC maps and are being investigated. Now, Ukrainian Dota 2 caster Vitalii “v1lat” Volochai accuses the participants of the Knights vs. EHOME match of match-fixing.

v1lat accuses Knights for match-fixing

Popular Ukrainian caster v1lat claims to have proof that Knights, in addition to using hacks in a match, are now involved in a match-fixing scandal. V1lat said:

“Unnormal amount of money was placed on EHOME victory on Map 2, and what makes me sad – is on odd/even number of kills at Map 2. Knights’ vs. EHOME match was fixed.”

He then topped it off with another comment stating that this is not the first time in the Chinese DPC.

“This is not the first game in Season 1 of Chinese DPC with strange bets of First Blood / First Tower / ODD number of kills. Dawn Gaming is one of the most corrupt teams in the world.”

Situation: Knights vs. EHOME

With the ticket purchased for the upcoming Dota 2 Lima Major 2023, Knights faced EHOME last February 2. This match had nothing at stake, and the Knights lost the series in straight sets. This can usually happen due to relaxation, overconfidence, or they weren’t on their day. However, v1lat said he spoke to the bookie and was told that an “abnormal amount of money” was bet on EHOME winning the second match.

While on his Twitter feed, v1lat was brief and precise with his comments, on his Telegram channel, he was quite the opposite, as he gave more details of the investigation conducted.

According to data from GG.Bet, an hour before the match kicked off, the odds for the Knights to win were at odds of 1.25. But these began to change rapidly as the match approached and took a big jump just 10 minutes before kickoff. At that point, the betting odds stood at 3.24, more than doubling.

On the other hand, v1lat also pointed out that for the odds of a DPC match in the top flight, a large amount of money must be bet on one of the two teams. So, this is presumably what happened.

Other types of suspicious betting

According to v1lat, GG.Bet also mentioned that the suspicious activity was not only in betting regarding the match’s outcome. They also point to the even/odd number of kills in the second match of the series.

The Ukrainian ended his statements by mentioning that this is not the first time it has happened in the Chinese DPC this season. V1lat points the finger at Dawn Gaming. Which is a team he describes as “one of the most corrupt in the world.”
