After much controversy surrounding this team, the North American TSM organization has stepped up to the plate (a perfect one, it should be noted) by signing a women’s Apex Legends team. This new lineup is commanded by TSM’s well-known and, more importantly, beloved content creator, Jane “Janey.”

Janey: from streamer to team captain

TSM signed Janey as a streamer last June 28, 2021, and after more than a year and a half in this role, she now becomes a professional Apex Legends player. Along with her, TSM also announces the signing of Kornelia “Sabz” Zawistowska from Legacy in EMEA, Isabella “Avuhlie” Rivera from NA Pro League Qualifiers, and Laurice “GuhRL” Habibi.

With this, we see the commitment TSM has with their Apex Legends division despite many organizations jumping ship in recent weeks. This shows that they have a significant expansion project regarding this esports. It is also worth remembering that the organization recently signed Mikkel “Mande” Hestbek, former SCARZ player and winner of the EMEA ALGS 2021 Championship, as a content creator.

Another important highlight of this TSM expansion in Apex Legends is that player Sabz becomes the second European player signed by TSM in the last week. There is no doubt that this marks a significant milestone for the North American organization.

This lineup will not participate in the ALGS

TSM’s Vice President of Esports, Dominic Kallas, announced that TSM’s new signings would not play together as a team in the ALGS. According to Kallas, Janey will not compete due to a lack of interest. Sabz will continue to compete with Phoenix Legacy in EMEA. On the other hand, Avuh and GuhRL are looking for a North American-based team to compete.

However, TSM plans to continue competing in community tournaments and organized events for content creators. Such as the Celestial Cup and Twitchcon. This is because the organization wants to highlight the trajectory of each player without the need to work side by side constantly.

Excellent community feedback

The feedback from the community has been fantastic. It has been very positive following this announcement, whether it’s a few fans, gamers, or any esports personality.

Many professional players and content creators stress the importance of a major organization like TSM signing a female lineup. And even more, so that it is from Apex Legends. Recall that Esports, Cloud9, and Team Liquid recently decided to withdraw from the Apex competitive scene.

This move is massive for TSM’s reputation. But more importantly, it brings more attention to women in esports who are criminally underrepresented in the industry.
