PGL To Host At Least 8 Million-dollar Dota 2 Tournaments Throughout 2024-2026

The Professional Gamers League, also known as PGL, a thriving tournament organizer known for hosting Counter-Strike and Dota 2 events, has shown its commitment to the professional Dota 2 circuit for the next three years. They have announced at least eight Dota 2 tournaments, each featuring $1 million in prize pools.

On their website, PGL proudly announced: 

“PGL is excited to turn a new page in the DOTA 2 esports saga. The commitment to a three-year series of tournaments showcases PGL’s unwavering support for the DOTA 2 community and its passion for delivering top-tier esports events. Fans worldwide can look forward to experiencing the pinnacle of DOTA 2 competition, brought to life by PGL’s renowned production quality and innovative approach to esports tournaments.”

PGL’s Plans For 2024

PGL is already set to host two Dota 2 events this year. The first tournament will be set in Bucharest, Romania, and will take place from May 10 to 19. 

After the process of open and closed qualifications, sixteen of the best teams in the world will compete for $1 million in a LAN format. The location is set to be PGL Studios, the company’s home base in Bucharest.

The location for the second event in 2024 is yet to be announced but is already set for November 15 to 24. 

Commitment To The Future

The tournament organizer has pressed on their testament to their unwavering dedication to the sustainability of Dota 2’s esports ecosystem. PGL aims to create unforgettable moments with its high-quality tournaments featuring the best teams in the world.

PGL has announced their calendar for Dota 2 tournaments from 2025 to 2026, with all tournaments featuring a million dollars in prize pools.

  • 2025 PGL Tournament #1 – March 6-15 | Qualifiers – January 5-12
  • 2025 PGL Tournament #2 – April 18-27 | Qualifiers – March 23-30
  • 2025 PGL Tournament #3 – November 7-16 | Qualifiers – September 21-28
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #1 – March 6-15 | Qualifiers – January 4-11
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #2 – April 17-26 | Qualifier – March 22-29
  • 2026 PGL Tournament #3 – November 6-15 | Qualifier – September 27 – October 4

All of the venues for these tournaments have yet to be confirmed, but it’s still a long time away. 

It is also important to note that these eight tournaments are the minimum amount PGL will host. There is potential for more events to pop up.

Previous Dota 2 Events PGL Hosted

For any avid Dota 2 fan, the name PGL is not unfamiliar. The company was responsible for hosting the two most-viewed Dota 2 tournaments in history, excluding The International: The Kiev Major in 2017 and the Arlington Major in 2022.
