Riot Games has announced the first information about the dates and seedings of the League of Legends World Championship 2022. The community is already preparing for the biggest League event of the year, which is coming in late September in North America.
Finally, more information about the upcoming Worlds 2022 has been revealed. Riot Games has recently announced that this year’s season-concluding event will start on September 29 and will run until November 5.
Worlds 2022 dates
The competition will begin with play-ins on September 29 at Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico City, where it will run until October 4 before moving to the United States. Worlds 2022 seedings
Besides the dates, Riot has also revealed the seeding list for the upcoming World Championship, which will follow a similar structure to previous Worlds. Out of the 24 teams qualifying for the tournament, 12 must qualify for the group stage via the play-in stage, while the other will 12 qualify for the group stage directly.
What is interesting this year is that the LCL teams (Russia) cannot send representatives to the Worlds due to the difficult political situation and the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine. In their place, the LEC (Europe) gets an extra spot, so it’s now on the same level as the LPL (China) and the LCK (Korea) with a total of four spots. The LCS (North America) is behind the aforementioned regions with three representatives.
Prize pool remains unknown
Information on the tickets for the different stages of the League of Legends World Championship 2022 is not yet known but is expected to be announced in the near future.
The prize pool isn’t set yet either, but it’s been pretty massive in recent years, so we can expect it to be the same this year.
In 2021, the prize pool was over $2.2 million, with the winner EDward Gaming taking home nearly half a million. We can already look forward to seeing the best League of Legends teams compete on the biggest stage in the world starting September 29th.
