Eternal Fire secure last ticket to ESL Pro League S18 playoffs

The emotions of the ESL Pro League Group Stage went to the last breath, as the Turkish team Eternal Fire got an excellent victory over Team Liquid by 2-0 to secure the last ticket to the tournament playoffs.

However, this is not a surprise, as EF came into this match after surprisingly annihilating Cloud9, a team that was undoubtedly the favorite to win Group D. However, EF’s determination and teamwork were much more than the individual quality of C9’s players.

It all started in Vertigo, Eternal Fire’s map pick, where the Turkish squad recovered after starting behind in the scoreboard. Team Liquid achieved a narrow 8-7 partial victory in the first half in their T Side.

However, at the change of sides, the Turkish offense was really good and precise, especially thanks to Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın and Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and, after 13 rounds (9-4), they achieved an excellent 16-12 victory to start the series on the right foot.

Mirage

The second map, Mirage, was all for Eternal Fire, as Buğra “Calyx” Arkın and Wicadia dressed as heroes to annihilate Team Liquid 16-6.

In the first half, Eternal Fire displayed spectacular defense to take an 11-4 partial victory and increase their excellent confidence level in the series. Finally, when the sides changed, Team Liquid could not do more than two rounds and lost 16-6. As a result, Eternal Fire takes the last playoff berth in Group D and the Group Stage overall.
