MOUZ and Complexity entered the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League S19 as favorites. Their opponents, G2 Esports and Virtus.pro respectively, had struggled to reach this stage and did not look capable of defeating them.

The statistics were ultimately confirmed on match day, but not immediately. G2 managed to win the first map against MOUZ, while Virtus.pro managed to win the first half of the first map against Complexity. However, after warming up and getting into the zone, both MOUZ and Complexity proved to be much stronger than their opponents.

MOUZ vs. G2 Esports: 2 – 1

All three maps were one-sided. G2 picked Inferno, as was expected, and won 3 – 13. NiKo and huNter- were so good on this map that m0NESY had almost nothing left to do.

On Vertigo, the young superstar went absolutely crazy, finishing with a rating 2.0 of 1.70. He had 25 kills and just 13 deaths, by far the best score on the server. But his teammates did almost nothing to help him. HooXi’s score was abysmal, 6 – 17 with an ADR of 41, while the rest of the squad did only a little better.

G2 lost this map 13 – 8 after losing the first half 10 – 2. On the third map, Nuke, G2 once again lost in the first half: 9 – 3. The final score here was 13 – 4.

For MOUZ, xertioN had an impressive performance, ending the match with a score of 48 – 36. Brollan, who usually has a very good score, did slightly worse this time: 28 – 31.

Complexity vs. Virtus.pro: 2 – 0

Complexity’s players looked hungry to win and their performance ranged from good to great. Everyone finished with a positive KD score. JT’s was 21 – 22 while EliGE’s was 37 – 17. Meanwhile, VP’s electroNic finished with a personal score of 14 – 34, which was uncharacteristically low.

The two maps, Ancient and Vertigo, ended with a clear victory for Complexity: 13 – 9 and 13 – 3.

Next Match

In their next match, MOUZ and Complexity will meet in the semifinals. The two teams know each other well. The last time they met, it was at the Copenhagen Major. MOUZ won that match 2 – 0. Before that, MOUZ won another match at Elisa Masters Espoo 2023. But that encounter happened six months ago, so it’s no longer relevant.

Based on what we’ve seen so far at ESL Pro League S19, either team could win. But MOUZ’s chances are slightly better.
