BREAKING: Seoul to host Valorant Champions 2024

For the first time ever, the VALORANT Champions Tour will be held in the Asia-Pacific region.

Riot Games announced Saturday that the VCT 2024 venue will be in Seoul, South Korea, from August 1-24, 2024.

Details about the final venue are yet to be announced, but the historic move is set to make history as the first-ever Champions in Asian territory.

Riot Games’ head of VALORANT Esports APAC Jake Sin told reporters that Seoul was chosen because South Korea provides several factors that tick the box in hosting a big global esports event.

“Korea’s been for the long, longest time a global powerhouse in the esports industry – bringing not just great entertainment, but also a network of highly experienced partners and a very passionate gaming community,” said Sin. “And when you also look at other factors like cost accessibility… Korea, just, you know, made perfect sense.”

Sin adds, “usually there are a lot of considerations that go into our selection process for host cities. And we look at factors such as cost accessibility, you know visas, infrastructure, but really at the core of it – we think about our fans first, and we always want to deliver a world- class experience for our community everywhere. We believe, we have to go meet our fans wherever they are. And in the past 3 years of VCT history, we’ve never had champions in APAC, so we wanted to bring the experience here for our APAC fans and Korean fans.”

The said move is seen to be a game changer for global esports, as major tournaments have also been held in South Korea – the most recent one being the League of Legends World Championship 2023 – also done by Riot Games.

Ticketing information and schedules are yet to be announced by Riot Games.
