Tour 2 of Dota Pro Circuit 2023 is about to begin in all of the six major regions and each of them has its own favorites. In North America, the battle for the number one position will likely take place between TSM and Shopify Rebellion, just as it did in Tour 1.

Based on what happened at the recent Lima Major, we now know that TSM’s victory against Rebellion was almost certainly a fluke.

What the Lima Major results tell us

At the Lima Major, TSM and Shopify played in different groups. TSM had to face a lot of strong teams and ended up getting eliminated quickly. They finished seventh out of nine teams, with a record of 2 W – 2 D – 4 L. What is surprising is that one of the draws came against Gaimin Gladiators, who went on to win the tournament.

Meanwhile, Rebellion had a much better performance and finished third in group B, with a record of 3 W – 4 D – 1 L. Thanks to this result, they went on to play in the playoffs and had the opportunity to start in the upper bracket, where they won their first match against Team Spirit but lost the second one against Team Liquid.

In the end, Rebellion finished the tournament in fourth place after getting beaten by Talon Esports in the lower bracket. TSM finished 13-14th.

North America Division I favorites

The big teams that will play in Division I of North America in the second Tour of DPC 2023 are listed below:

  • Shopify Rebellion
  • TSM
  • Nouns
  • Wildcard Gaming

The remaining four teams are much less skilled and experienced, so they won’t cause any real problems.

It will be interesting to see if Wildcard Gaming’s results will improve, now that the roster has been changed almost completely. Apart from Samuel “Sammyboy” Anderson, who is the team’s captain, everyone is new.

Two of WG’s players are very strong. One of them is Yawar “YawaR” Hassan (Sumail’s brother) and the other is Arif “MSS” Anwar, who seems to have left Old G to go and compete in a more serious way. His past results include many regional trophies won with Quincy Crew, as well as a 9–12th place at The International 2021.

With the addition of these two strong players, WG might end up stealing the place at the next DPC Major from either TSM or Shopify.

Tour 2 starts on March 13.
