The RLCS Fall Major, the first event of the 2022-23 season of Rocket League, wrapped up yesterday, and a new champion has been crowned — none other than the North American team Gen.G Mobil1 Racing.

This Major was played from December 8 to 11, 2022, and, as we have mentioned, it is the event that officially kicks off the 2023 season of this beautiful video game called Rocket League.

Gen.G winners against the odds

We all know Gen.G for presenting outstanding teams in popular titles such as League of Legends, Overwatch, NBA 2K, CS:GO, PUBG and VALORANT, but this fall, they decided to venture into Rocket League for the first time in their history.

Gen.G formed this team practically at the last minute, which included several European players who decided to cross the pond and thus bring all their talent to North America.

Being very new to the Rocket League competitive scene, this team was not considered a favorite, even in the North American region, one of the most competitive in the world.

But, after several months, Gen.G is now the best team in the world after winning the RLCS Fall Major held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, which ended yesterday.

Gen.G at RLCS Fall Major

The victory in the RLCS Fall Major was the icing on the cake of a spectacular Fall Split for Gen.G in their Rocket League debut.

The team not only won this Major but also played in the Grand Finals of three of the most critical events in the NA region and took the victory in one of them.

In the RLCS Fall Major, Gen.G started with a good level of play after an excellent 3-1 record in the Swiss stage to get their ticket to the tournament playoffs.

Everything was on track for the Gen.G boys, as in the playoffs, they won a very close match against Team Liquid with a 4-3 score to advance to the tournament’s semifinals, where they defeated FaZe Clan 4-1.

In the Gen.G Grand Final, Mobil1 Racing took on Moist Esports in a heart-stopping match that ended with a 4-2 score in a six-game series to take home a spectacular $100,000 in prize money. But this prize is nothing compared to being labeled the best team in the world.

Gen.G and Moist lived up to the championship

Undoubtedly, the Gen.G guys managed to shut the mouths of all those fans and specialists who did not consider them favorites for this tournament and did not even bet anything on them in the first phase.

In addition, we are sure that they exceeded their expectations in this RLCS Fall Major and established themselves as the best in North America and the world.

On the other hand, Moist has also had a spectacular year in 2022 in Europe, and, despite not being able to come out victorious in this Major, they leave an exquisite taste in their mouths for what 2023 will be for them.

Although Moist finished in second place, they accumulated many RLCS points that helped them climb to second place in the European ranking, only behind Karmine Corp.

Likewise, Gen.G has escaped first place in North American ranking, opening a considerable gap concerning their main pursuers, FaZe Clan.
