The thrills of the ESL Pro League S17 continue, and the third day of the tournament has ended with exciting results for all the fans.

Despite being taken aback by Cloud9 in the Upper Bracket semifinals, G2 Esports recovered to defeat MIBR 2-0 and advance to the Mid Bracket finals. On the other hand, Fnatic started with doubts about the Turkish Eternal Fire. Finally, however, they woke up and got the 2-1 victory.

With this, Fnatic and G2 Esports will play the final of the Mid Bracket this Saturday, February 25, to find out which team will qualify for the playoffs of this ESL Pro League S17.

Fnatic vs. Eternal Fire – Game Recap

Undoubtedly, Fnatic and Eternal Fire gave us one of the best series we have seen so far in ESL Pro League S17. The series was played on Anubis (Eternal Fire), Overpass (Fnatic), and Nuke (Decisive).

Anubis

The first map was a spectacular demonstration of why the Turks selected Anubis to start the series against Fnatic. Eternal Fire started with everything and managed to contain Fnatic in the first half to end with a tight score of 7-8 in favor of the oranges. However, the tone changed in the second half, as the Turks brought out their strategy book to take the victory with a score of 16-11. Ömer “imoRR” Karataş led the Turks with a 1.13 rating on this map.

Overpass

In Overpass, the roles were changed entirely, as Fnatic was the team that started hitting very hard in the first half, with a resounding 10-5 on the T side. Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen was responsible for wreaking havoc with the defense of the Turks with 101.3 ADR and a rating of 1.55.

In the second half, Fnatic suffered more than enough because they lost five consecutive rounds after winning the pistol round, bringing Eternal Fire back into the match. However, the Swedes woke up and won four consecutive rounds to put the Turks in check and finally take the victory 16-11.

Nuke – Decisive

It would all come down to Nuke, one of the most played maps in recent times in the professional CS:GO scene. Fnatic started very well on the CT side, taking the victory in the first half 9-6. In this half, veteran Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson did his part to finish with 123.3 ADR and a 1.84 rating.

In the second half, Eternal Fire tried to come back with Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli, but the efforts were in vain as Fnatic managed to easily decipher the Turkish defense to retake the victory with a score of 16-11.

G2 Esports vs. MIBR – Game Recap

In the other key of the Mid Bracket, we had the #1 team in the world according to the HLTV and ESL world rankings, G2 Esports taking on the Brazilians of MIBR. The series was played at Vertigo (MIBR) and Nuke (G2).

Vertigo

The Brazilians did not have a good time on their selected map, as G2 Esports always looked far superior to them. The first half ended with G2 on the CT side with a crushing 12-3 score in favor of the Europeans. Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov were in charge of closing all the doors on the map for the Brazilian team.

MIBR tried to react in the second half with four consecutive rounds, but this was not enough as G2 only had to win four rounds and did so in the next five rounds that were played to finish with a score of 16-8.

Nuke

G2 Esports’ adored and beloved Nuke came out on top in this series. Let’s remember that G2 right now (adding this victory against MIBR) has 14 consecutive victories in Nuke.

The Europeans started with everything on their favorite map in the first half of the T-side. However, Wunderkind, m0NESY, again had a great match and managed to carry his team in the first half of this map.

With a 10-5 lead, G2 Esports came out somewhat confident in the second half of the CT side. MIBR managed to win 6 of the first eight rounds to put them up 12-11 at one point in the match. However, Justin “jks” Savage managed to wreak havoc on every attacking attempt by the Brazilians, and they managed to take the win 16-12.
