Considered one of the most talented players in the next generation, Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov has netted 20,000 hours on his favorite video game. Though he is not the first player to achieve this feat, we must remember that he is only 18.

Spending More Than 10% Of His Life On Counter-Strike

The “Baby GOAT” turns 19 next week, as his birthday lands on May 1, 2005. Previously, m0NESY mentioned that he started playing Counter-Strike at the age of 5, which is already bizarre that a mere toddler could move a mouse and aim.

This information helps us conclude that m0NESY has been playing Counter-Strike for 14 years. There are 8,760 hours in a year, meaning the Russian prospect has played the game for 2.28 years, which is nearly 11% of his total lifetime!

Throughout 14 years of playing Counter-Strike, we can conclude that m0NESY has spent an average of 4 hours daily on the game. Though 4 hours a day doesn’t sound too crazy for a hardcore gamer, it shows immense dedication to not getting bored and playing the same title every day.

Though m0NESY is considered to be a generational talent, these numbers show that he works very hard and spends a lot of time improving in the game. It is safe to say that he is a combination of raw talent and hard work.

Like Robin “ropz” Kool, m0NESY spends lots of time in private servers looking for innovative smoke lineups or new positions to abuse. He abused several smoke bugs in the past, which have been immediately patched by Valve.

What Has He Achieved From 20,000 Hours?

Many would see a player spend 20,000 hours on a video game and call them out for “not having a life.” Though that may be true, we have to remember that m0NESY is already a Tier 1 professional who has been playing in global tournaments for millions.

At the age of 17, m0NESY was already picked up by one of the most prestigious esports organizations, G2 Esports. And this transfer was different from your typical team picking up a young kid for free. G2 had to pay $600,000 to buy him from his previous team, Na’Vi Junior!

During his two-year tenure at G2, m0NESY has achieved the following results so far:

  • 2nd place at IEM Masters Katowice 2022
  • 3-4th place at BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022
  • 3-4th place at ESL Pro League Season 16
  • 1st place at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022
  • 1st place at IEM Katowice 2023
  • 3-4th place at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023
  • 1st place at IEM Masters Cologne 2023
  • 3-4th place at Gamers8 2023
  • 3-4th place at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024

These top placements and trophies have netted the 18-year-old over $440,000 in prize winnings alone. Though it has never been made public, m0NESY should also be receiving thousands of dollars in monthly salaries from the G2 Esports organization.

If you think this kid has never touched grass or socialized, remember that he’s most likely making more money than you and isn’t even considered an adult yet.

Though the youngster still shows signs of inexperience in important matches, we must remember that he is still relatively new to the Tier 1 scene. He still has a long career ahead of him, and because of his age, he will likely outlast top players such as Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.
