TSM ends participation in LCS Summer Split and could be last

The LCS Summer Split 2023 playoffs are in full swing. After the first matches played, one team manages to advance in the Lower Bracket on its way to the championship, while another, TSM, says goodbye to the tournament and the NA League of Legends scene.

There is no more complicated farewell than when a team loses in the playoffs, and TSM experienced it firsthand in this LCS Summer Split 2023. Let’s remember that the organization announced before the Split that this would be their last foray into the NA scene and that they are exploring options to join another LoL league in the world.

TSM must prepare best, depending on the slot they get in one of the other top-tier regional LoL leagues.

TSM fall to Dignitas and say goodbye to the LCS with a defeat

While it is true that TSM knew this would be their last Split in the LCS, they still competed greatly until the end. Five games were played in the match against Dignitas, where both teams fought tooth and nail to advance to the quarterfinals of the Lower Bracket. However, TSM could not, and after a second 2-3 loss in these playoffs, they were eliminated from the Split and said goodbye to the LCS.

Likewise, it is worth noting that TSM made Dignitas suffer until the end to stay alive in these playoffs. However, TSM is the first to be eliminated from the playoffs, and, most likely, this will be the last time LCS fans will see them in the league.

TSM and its uncertain future in the LCS

In May, weeks before the LCS Summer Split 2023, many rumors surfaced regarding TSM’s future. However, a short time later, Andy Dinh, the organization’s CEO, confirmed that TSM would leave the LCS after the Summer Split. All this to get a slot in some other Tier 1 regional league.

Then, in the Summer Split, we observed that TSM had many problems, as the lineup did not perform as expected, and they failed to be among the best. However, in the last few weeks, the team reacted to climb to sixth place in the standings and qualify for the playoffs.

In the playoffs, TSM faced Evil Geniuses in the first game of the Upper Bracket, where they gave a pleasant surprise by standing up to EG since, after five games, they lost with a very tight score of 2-3. Then, in the match against Dignitas, TSM tried to stop them from staying alive, but the truth is that the efforts were in vain since the teamfights were controlled by Dignitas, and they took the victory by 3-2.

The farewell of a historic organization

If TSM leaves the LCS, we will say goodbye to one of the most important organizations in the NA League of Legends scene. TSM won seven LCS trophies and represented NA in several Worlds. Moreover, thanks to its player development program, big names in the LoL competitive scene, not only in NA but also in the rest of the world, became known.
