Pujan “FNS” Mehta, a seasoned VALORANT in-game leader, has bid farewell to his role as NRG’s IGL and embarked on a new journey in streaming and content creation. The decision comes as a shock to many, considering FNS’ impressive track record in competitive VALORANT.

FNS, a former Counter-Strike professional, transitioned to VALORANT, like numerous others in the pros. His journey saw him initially join Team Envy, which later merged with OpTic Gaming, where he continued to lead as the IGL for the North American team.

During his time with the Green Wall FNS achieved notable success, including lifting the Masters: Reykjavik trophy in 2022. This triumph was a highlight in his career, showcasing his prowess as a strategic leader within the upper echelons of the competitive scene.

However, as the VALORANT landscape evolved, so did FNS’ aspirations. The partnership era of VALORANT witnessed FNS taking his OpTic Gaming core to NRG, with high hopes for continued success. Unfortunately, NRG’s international performance in 2023 did not replicate their previous achievements, and they fell short in several key tournaments.

Following their exit from the Champions 2023 tournament, FNS made a surprising announcement on Instagram. He revealed that he had begun streaming almost daily and, although discussions with organizations about potential returns to competitive play had taken place, his heart was no longer in competing.

FNS stated, “Streaming has been a new challenge for me that I want to continue to tackle.” While he hasn’t completely ruled out a return to competitive play in 2024, for now, he’s content with taking a backseat until his competitive spirit reignites.

This decision marks the end of an era for the historical Envy trio of FNS, Victor “Victor” Wong, and Austin “crashies” Roberts, who have been a formidable force in the VALORANT scene since 2020.  While FNS’ competitive journey takes an intermission, the gaming community eagerly awaits his next chapter as a streaming sensation, where he aims to build something of his own before potentially returning to the competitive arena.

NRG’s future lineup is in question as key players:

NRG Esports, in the wake of FNS’ departure, finds itself in a state of transition. Star player Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks is reportedly considering a move back to EMEA with NAVI, and fellow teammate Sam “s0m” Oh has already departed the team to focus on streaming.

Following the departure of FiNESSE, NRG Esports is now:

  • Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks
  • Austin “crashies” Roberts
  • Victor “Victor” Wong
  • Chet “Chet” Singh (Coach)
  • Benjamin “trainer” Bravo (Assistant coach)
