BLAST Premier Spring Groups brings together 16 teams and divides them into four independent competitions. The only link between them is that the losers of the finals from each group will meet in the play-in stage for one last chance to qualify directly for BLAST Premier Spring Final and avoid playing in BLAST Premier Showdown.

The tournament starts on January 22 and lasts until January 28. We already know who will play in each group, so we can try to answer the question: who are the favorites?

Group A favorites

In group A, every match will be exciting to watch because three of the teams are connected by many former players. Team Vitality lost their coach, Danny “zonic” Sorensen, as well as a player, Emil “Magisk” Reif, who decided to join Team Falcons. But these two players, before joining Vitality, were Astralis players. And Astralis will also play in this group.

The favorites, at least on paper, are Vitality and Astralis. The first of these teams should win the group with ease. The only thing that’s mysterious is who will place 2nd.

Group B favorites

In group B, FaZe Clan and Team Liquid are much stronger than GamerLegion and Team Spirit. Even though Spirit managed to sign Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov, they’re still a much weaker team than FaZe and Liquid.

Right now, everyone is curious to see Liquid’s new roster in action. The upgrades that were made in recent months are absolutely phenomenal.

Casper “cadiaN” Moller is one of the best IGLs in the world, while Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken is one of the best riflers. Together with their other teammates, who are also exceptionally good, they will probably forge one of the best teams in CS2.

Group C favorites

In group C, G2 Esports and Natus Vincere seem to be the biggest favorites, but Complexity and Ninjas in Pyjamas could cause serious upsets. In the case of G2, we know that two of their players, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, were among the best five in the world in 2023. But will that be enough to beat Na’Vi and Complexity?… We’ll have to see.

Group D favorites

In group D, Cloud9 don’t seem to have a formidable opponent, so they will likely win without too many problems. Of course, Virtus.pro and BIG are not exactly weak, but they’re not on their level.

As for Heroic, it’s unclear how strong they are at this point but they’re probably not very strong. Too many strong players left the organization and the team lacks a strong IGL.
