Dota 2 patch 7.35d has been around for a few weeks and we can already tell how the meta is going to look.

As usual, some heroes are a lot more successful than others but not all of the high win rate ones are picked in a high percentage of games. The reason for this is simple: many Dota 2 heroes, despite being strong, are either difficult to play well or quite boring.

A player who doesn’t care as much about MMR and prioritizes fun will never pick Meepo, Arc Warden, or Dark Seer unless he already has more than 100 games with these heroes. They’re not particularly fun to play and can be highly demanding, but their win rates are high because they get the job done quite easily if you know how to play them properly.

Here are seven Dota 2 heroes that are very successful and could help you gain a lot of MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.35d.

Abaddon: 55% win rate

abaddon

Valve

Abaddon is currently the highest win-rate hero in Dota 2. He did not receive any direct nerfs or buffs in Dota 2 patch 7.35d, but some of the items he uses got buffed. In particular, Eye of Skadi now gives 30 more HP and mana than before.

Abaddon’s toolkit is very useful. In team fights, he generally gets dodged because his ultimate will keep him alive for a long time. With a bit of help from his teammates, this hero can stay alive for at least 15s even when he’s under assault. During this time, he can deal a lot of damage if he’s well-equipped.

Abaddon’s strongest ability is Curse of Avernus, which gives him a lot of attack speed against his enemies. If you hit a hero 4 times, that hero receives a debuff for 4s. This debuff slows movement speed by 60% and gives Abaddon 120 attack speed. The enemy also takes 50 damage per second.

Abaddon’s ultimate, Borrowed time, lasts for 4 – 6s. It generally takes 3 – 4s to bring Abaddon to low HP. Then you add 6 more seconds of death immunity, during which this hero can regenerate or receive regeneration from his allies. And then it will take another 5s of focused damage to get him killed. So in total, Abaddon gets a lot of time to attack.

Aphotic Shield deals just 210 damage but the bigger benefit of this ability is that it applies a strong dispel. Thanks to this, Abaddon can remove all sorts of debuffs and then go on the attack again. This can be done every 6s, which makes this hero very hard to slow down.

When playing Abaddon, items like S&Y, Harpoon, Manta Style, and Radiance can be very helpful. This is a hero that tends to make every fight much longer, so having something that will damage your opponents every second tends to be quite useful.

Leshrac: 53.6% win rate

leshrac

Valve

Leshrac excels because he has an excellent toolkit. He can destroy buildings with ease, even on his own, thanks to Diabolic Edict. He can stun multiple enemies for 1.7s and deal 300 damage to them using Split Earth.

He can farm very easily using Lightning Storm. And, if you have enough mana, you can even jungle from an early level using Pulse Nova.

Leshrac has everything he needs to start growing at a rapid pace from the first 10 minutes of each game. If he gets a kill or two and achieves excellent timing for his first big items, he will destroy the entire enemy team almost on his own.

When playing this hero, your item build is of great importance. The choices you make should reflect the specifics of the matchup and allow you to either outfarm or outfight the opposition.

Consider buying Arcane Boots, Bloodstone, Aghanim’s Shard, Kaya & Sange, Eul’s Scepter, Eternal Shroud, Lotus Orb, and Shiva’s Guard. Such items give you everything you need to thrive. In the early game, a Bottle, two Null Talismans, Arcane Boots, a Magic Wand, and a Kaya should be sufficient.

Build yourself into a tanky damage dealer who can stand in the middle of the enemy team and deal lots of damage. A little bit of everything works well on this hero. Try to boost your magic resistance and armor as early as possible, but not before getting an item that will allow you to farm really well.

Lifestealer: 53.5% win rate

life stealer

Valve

Everyone is spamming Lifestealer right now. This hero has a win rate of 53.5% and a pick rate of 16.5%. That’s more than the first two heroes on this list combined.

When you play LS, you already have excellent movement speed, attack speed, lifesteal, and debuff immunity. Rage gives you great benefits but you can take things further with the right items.

The first thing that you must do is to gain enough experience and gold to buy a pair of boots, an Armlet, and a few more basic items. These items and the levels you’ve gained will allow you to start jungling. This provides excellent benefits because the enemy team will lose track of you. That makes every offensive maneuver on their part more risky and potentially costly.

Constantly deward your own jungle and make sure that you don’t farm under an enemy ward. This hero gets ahead very quickly if he’s allowed to farm freely, so the other team will try to kill you at least once or twice between the 7 and 20-minute marks.

With lots of stats built into your toolkit, you can focus on damage and durability. That’s why the Armlet is so important. It gives you all the damage and durability you need in the early game and will allow you to start working toward your next item, which could be Sange and Yasha, a Heart of Tarrasque, a Desolator, or even a Radiance.

The goal is to turn yourself into a force that cannot be ignored in team fights. Items that give you raw damage tend to be more useful if the enemy doesn’t have powerful initiation and disengage tools. That’s because you always have a 6-7s window of opportunity that should be exploited to the maximum.

While under the effects of Rage, you can usually attack freely. After that, you need to be more careful and avoid dangerous scenarios. This hero tends to die by getting chain-stunned either before or after Rage.

One item that’s not intuitive but could save your life is Linken’s Sphere. Whenever it gets activated, you can quickly activate your Rage. Or, if your Rage is about to expire, this item will block a very important targeted ability and allow you to escape more easily.

Having a Blink Dagger greatly increases your chances of getting out of difficult positions immediately after Rage. It also gives you the ability to initiate more easily and stick to a support hero without any problems.

Axe: 53.4% win rate

axe

Valve

Axe is loved by lots of players right now and his pick rate is 18%. This is one of the easiest heroes to play in the early game because he tends to dominate any carry in the first 5-10 minutes. He also has the option of cutting waves, which gives him perfect farm. After buying his Vanguard, he is practically unkillable for 5-10 minutes.

All he needs is Vanguard or Pavise, a pair of boots, a Blink Dagger, and a Blade Mail. After that it’s really up to you. Your build should focus on stats that make a big difference against the heroes of the enemy team.

You could also opt to buy defensive items for your own team, such as Crimson Guard and Pipe of Insight. Don’t be too greedy when playing Axe because your role is to initiate and help your team. Your main source of damage will be the one provided by Counter Helix and Blade Mail.

The standard combination when playing this hero is Blink into Berserker’s Call. If the enemy gets low enough, you can use Culling Blade to finish the job. Ideally, your initiations should happen while other allies are around. This will allow you to combine your abilities in a way that results in easy kills and towers.

Zeus: 53.2% win rate

zuus

Valve

Zeus has a pick rate of 17% in Dota 2 patch 7.35d. That’s because his abilities and item builds are extremely satisfying to use. With enough mana regen, this hero will brutalize the entire enemy team after the 10-minute mark. His Arc Lightning deals 160 + 6% of the target’s current HP as damage. And you can cast it every 1.6s.

On top of that, you also have Lightning Bolt, which deals 350 damage and can be cast every 6s. So in just 6s, you can deal more than 1200 damage if you have the mana to do it. And that’s without your ultimate, which deals an additional 300 + 5% of the target’s max HP as damage.

If the enemy heroes stay too close to each other, just 2-3 Qs and one ultimate will bring them below 50% HP in the early game. Your teammates can dive after that and finish the job. Heroes like Faceless Void love Zeus because they have difficulties against full HP targets in the first 20 minutes. But if someone else does more than half of the job, it gets much easier to score kills.

When playing Zeus, items like Aether Lens, Arcane Boots, Phylactery, Kaya and Sange, and Aghanim’s Scepter tend to be very useful. You can also buy yourself a Ghost Scepter against powerful right-clickers and a Blink Dagger. Such items will allow you to reposition yourself with ease and avoid most of the physical damage that could be done to you.

Witch Doctor: 53% win rate

witch doctor

Valve

Despite the repeated nerfs, Witch Doctor continues to have a huge pick rate in Dota 2 patch 7.35d. You’ll encounter this hero in a fifth of your games. His toolkit is incredible even without any important items.

Paralyzing Cask can keep two enemies stunned for several seconds. Voodoo Restoration will heal an ally for very little mana in the early stages of the game, making it less expensive for him to stay in the lane and farm. Later, the same ability can heal your entire team after a fight and allow it to push relentlessly.

Maledict will destroy any enemy that chooses to stand and fight after the debuff is applied, as long as you can deal decent damage.

Death Ward is one of the best ultimates in the game, dealing massive pure damage and having a relatively low cooldown.

When playing WD, items like Glimmer Cape, Arcane Boots, and Aether Lens should not be missing from your inventory. You should also buy yourself a lot of small items that give you stats or resistances. As a support hero, anything that you can get is useful. After the 25-minute mark, Null Talisman is a powerful tool for any intelligence hero.

Oracle: 53% win rate

oracle

Valve

Oracle’s pick rate is below 5% but his win rate is high because the hero is phenomenal if properly used and properly picked. What you need is a strong core to take care of. If you keep that core alive for 5-10 more seconds, he should be able to destroy the enemy team.

Heroes like Huskar, Phantom Assassin, and Troll Warlord tend to have this capacity. But Oracle can make a big contribution even without his ultimate. His ability to root, disarm, and heavily damage targets from afar is very valuable in team fights.

When playing Oracle, make sure you buy an Aether Lens. If you cast your ultimate at the right time on the right target, you will win many difficult fights. Cast range is of great importance here.
