A new insight into the Hunden story

Days, weeks, and months go by, and new information about the “HUNDEN case” in the CS:GO competitive scene continues. However, a new insight into the Hunden story recently came to light from Richard Lewis, one of today’s most prestigious esports journalists.

Nicolai “Hunden” Petersen continues to be in the spotlight of the esports community. It all started with the issue of Hunden being involved in the Coach Bug scandal a couple of times. Then Heroic, his former organization, took legal action against the coach for selling the strategy book to one of his rivals (allegedly Astralis). Finally, it had come to light that the Danish coach signed an agreement with Astralis when he was still part of Heroic.

Richard Lewis claims Hunden signs a deal with Astralis while still part of Heroic

The controversy surrounding Hunden is continuing. A few hours ago, Richard Lewis published a lengthy article with several screenshots detailing that the coach had signed an agreement with Astralis while he was part of Heroic. In addition to that, Astralis had reportedly asked Hunden for help in signing players for the CS:GO lineup.

As mentioned, this is not the first and only scandal in which Hunden has been immersed in his career. It would be complicated to explain in a single note all the problems the coach has had in the CS:GO scene.

Hunden was accused of using the Coach Bug multiple times when he was Heroic’s coach. On top of that, in the summer of 2021, ESIC punished Hunden for sharing confidential information (mostly strategies) with different teams, including his current organization, Astralis. However, in December 2022, ESIC lifted the punishment on the coach before serving the full sentence.

After learning this news, Richard Lewis assured that the former Heroic coach had worked with Astralis during his suspension. Undoubtedly, this breaks ESIC regulations and could be considered an unethical gesture by the coach and Astralis.

Astralis and Hunden’s relationship is not new

While it is true that Astralis announced Hunden as its CS:GO head analyst in January 2023, according to Richard Lewis, they would have had a signed contract since 2021. And it is that, while the ESIC suspended the coach, he worked with Astralis as a transfer advisor.

In addition, according to the information published, Astralis would have put him in contact with a lawyer to get out of Heroic as quickly as possible. The relationship between Astralis and Hunden goes back years. Despite all the unethical and controversial gestures, the two continue to work together, which does not please much of the international community.
