Valve has finally put effort into nurturing its newest game, Counter-Strike: 2. The update comes with massive changes, including quality-of-life modifications and active map pool rotations. Here’s a quick summary of the most important changes!

Viewmodel Updates

  • Valve has adjusted viewmodel bob movement, which is when your weapon hand moves while you are running.
  • Finally, Valve has added the left-hand viewmodel after heavy demand for the feature. Left-hand viewmodel players, rejoice!
  • Players can now bind a key to switch between left and right-hand viewmodels.

HUD Updates

  • Radar Map Alternate Zoom and Toggle Radar Zoom options are now available in the in-game settings menu.
  • A nice quality-of-life change: Valve added grenade line-up reticles right after you throw. This timing and duration can be configured in the settings page.
  • The scoreboard has been added to the menu when you press the “Esc” key.

Buy Menu Updates

  • A “Dropped Weapons” panel is now visible in the buy menu. As the name suggests, it displays a list of weapons that have been dropped by teammates within the buy zone.
  • Players can now see the minimum amount of money that they are guaranteed to have in the next round. This feature is included in Valorant, and can help players calculate how much they should spend.

Gameplay Updates

  • The Zeus x27 has been buffed yet again. You can now move faster while wielding the taser and receive $100 for killing a player. Previously, you would get $0.
  • The CZ-75-Auto’s kill reward has been buffed from $100 to $300.
  • The XM1014’s kill reward has been nerfed from $900 to $600.

Inventory Updates (Skins)

  • Lighting adjustments have been applied in the backgrounds when you inspect a skin.
  • The skin’s Wear Category can now be seen in the tooltip section in the inspect screen.

Map Updates

  • Overpass has been removed from the Active Duty Map Pool, and is replaced by Dust II! This means Dust II will be included in Premier Matchmaking, and will soon be integrated to the professional scene.
  • Inferno changes:
  1. The overhanging building at top mid has been removed.
  2. The overhangs at the bottom of Banana have been removed.
  • Overpass, Nuke, Vertigo, and Mirage received bug and exploit fixes.

Miscellaneous Updates

  • Players can now load into practice matches and workshop maps with party members. This means you can 1v1 your friends on workshop maps!
  • The Overwatch system has been added back to the game.
  • Copenhagen Major stickers are now 75% off. Go get them now!

Overall, this update is going to massively impact the community in a good way. Players can now use the left-handed viewmodel and load into workshop maps with their friends.

Adding Dust II into the active map pool is also a huge change, but community members disliked Overpass being removed, and preferred other maps like Mirage to be rotated out instead.
