The Bali Major will be the final Dota Pro Circuit Major of this season. And because it’s the last one, it’s also the most important one for the teams.

Even the 7th-8th place competitors will receive 300 points. The winner will get 600. A top-eight result here would help some of the participants to secure a top 12 spot in DPC rankings.

Location and dates

The Bali Major is scheduled to take place in Bali, Indonesia, between June 29 – July 9. For 11 days, the best teams in the world will compete for $500.000 in prize money but more importantly, for the 3500 DPC points.

For many of the competitors, this Major, despite its status, will be nothing more than a training session for Riyadh Masters 2023, which will offer $15 million in prize money, as well as The International 2023, which will likely offer more than $20 million.

Competitive format

The competitive format of the tournament is the usual one: group stage followed by playoffs.

The group stage will be played using two groups of nine teams. In each group, the top six teams advance to the playoffs. Every match is best-of-two.

During the playoffs, every match is best-of-three, including the first round of the lower bracket but excluding the Grand Final, which is a best-of-five series.

The group stage takes place between June 29 – July 3. The playoffs stage starts after a one-day break, on July 5.

Unfortunately for the 18 participants, only the top eight will receive points and money. This means that more than half of them will go home empty-handed. This is generally an insensitive way of doing things, but Valve isn’t willing to allocate that much money to Dota 2 events these days.

Why? Nobody knows. Along with Counter-Strike, it’s arguably one of their best games to date and the potential for growth is enormous. But very little is done to promote this masterpiece.

Participants

Here are the 18 teams that will participate in the Bali Major:

  • Tundra Esports
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Quest Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Spirit
  • BetBoom Team
  • 9Pandas
  • LGD
  • Invictus Gaming
  • Team Aster
  • Azure Ray
  • Bleed Esports
  • Blacklist International
  • Execration

All of them are strong, but some are simply incredible. It’s expected that Gaimin Gladiators, BetBoom, Liquid, PST.LGD, Rebellion, 9Pandas, and several other competitors will do well at this tournament.
