One of North America’s finest Apex Legends free agents Gent has found a new home with NICKMERCS. The popular content creator and Fortnite player for FaZe Clan NICKMERCS was able to bring the Apex professional into his Apex Legends Global Series team, the Tripods.
Thus, one of the most popular faces in Apex Legends officially gets a new team after parting ways with G2 Esports. NICKMERCS announced the news yesterday by officially welcoming former G2 player Rigo “Gent” Padilla to the Tripods team. He will now carry the Tripods banner into his third year of the ALGS.
Big news on the Apex front: Tripods are movin’ forward with @G2Gent as our new third for the ALGS Pro League! @yaboydeeds & I are excited to compete at the highest level with one of the best in the game 🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/giS03YLCL6

Ready for the pro league?
Over the past few weeks, Gent has filled in for the team in several tournaments, so it’s not a complete surprise to see him join the roster. NICKMERCS and his teammate Deeds were asked by the Apex community if they are capable of playing at the North American Pro League level, especially after they decided to say goodbye to Lewda, who led the team.
In short, Gent is one of the best fraggers the region currently has to offer and a master controller player, so the team probably won’t be short of firepower as Gent zips through the fights.
Prior to joining Tripod, Gent represented the AimAssist team, G2, and SolaFide at various points in time.
Bright future with Gent?
The question of leadership and decisions in the game still arises for the new Tripods team. While NICKMERCS and Deeds have both been grinding in Apex over the past year, they are relatively new to the game’s pro scene compared to many of the teams they will face off against. And although Gent is one of the best free agents on the scene, he hasn’t been known as IGL in the recent past.

If there’s one question the Tripods need to answer if they want to succeed in the pro league, it’s who leads the team and how successful they are in that role. Still, it’s an exciting addition to the Tripods and an interesting role for Gent, who left G2’s competitive team after failing to live up to their own expectations in the second half of the ALGS season and finishing 35th in the Split Two Playoffs.
Meanwhile, NICKMERCS’ development in Apex Legends is considered impressive. All things considered, Tripods have, together with their new addition, the potential to succeed in the Apex Legends Global Series.
