The changes in the League of Legends lineup of Evil Geniuses continue. The organization has confirmed what had been rumored recently, as they announced the departure of four players.

With these departures, all the rumors that pointed to a total restructuring of the team ahead of the LCS Summer Split 2023 are fulfilled, and, in addition, the four names that we mentioned that would leave the team are also fulfilled.

There is no doubt that EG will be looking for four players who can turn their situation around in the summer season. First, however, let’s remember that Evil Geniuses is a very demanding organization, and they always aspire to have the best results in each tournament they participate in.

Evil Geniuses announce the departure of four players

Through an announcement on its social networks, Evil Geniuses announced the departure of four players from the team’s starting lineup ahead of the LCS Summer Split 2023.

After EG returned to the LCS in 2020, the team has been one of the league’s most popular but most talked about teams. Their beginnings were not as desired, but as the seasons went on, the team increased their level of play so much that they managed to win the Spring Split.

However, the start of the 2023 season has not been as expected by the organization, and after finishing in fourth place in the 2023 Spring Split, they have decided to part with the following players:

  • Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho
  • Victor “FBI” Huang
  • Kacper “Inspired” Słoma
  • Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme

As mentioned, this announcement confirms the rumors that started to spread a few days ago following a report by Alejandro Gomis.

The only player in EG’s starting lineup for the LCS Summer Split 2023 is Mid Laner Joseph “jojopyun” Pyun. Moreover, these are not the only changes the organization has made, as let’s remember that a few days ago, they parted ways with Aleš “Freeze” Kněžínek and Albert “H4xDefender” Ong, their two coaches.

No information yet regarding the replacements for all players and technical staff. However, according to a report by Travis Gafford, it is very likely that the organization will have a much smaller budget for the Summer Split. According to different reports, EG is one of the esports organizations that has spent the most money on the scene in recent years.

Internal problems at EG

In addition to problems regarding the results obtained in the Spring Split 2023, EG has also had some internal problems involving Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki, an extraordinary player who, according to reports, was forced to play under unsuitable conditions.

Finally, all four players who have left EG are free agents, so thanks to their talent and excellent popularity on the scene, they will likely get a new home in the next few days. In addition, a few days ago, it was also announced that the star of the LCS, Vulcan, signed with a European agency, so it is very likely that the player will jump to the LEC.
