G2 Esports has a new captain of the ship. After holding different positions in the organization, Alban Dechelotte has taken the reins as CEO of G2. The executive had previous experience at Riot Games, Coca-Cola, Havas, and PwC. In addition, Sabrina Raith will be the new COO of the organization, and Philippe Adam will be the new CFO.

Ratih served as an interim chief commercial officer at G2 for over a year, ending her tenure in June 2022. She will now take over the company’s operations.

Departure of Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez

In September 2022, after eight long years at the helm of his organization, Carlos “Ocelote” Rodríguez resigned as CEO of G2. This is due to the controversy generated after appearing in the video of the controversial American YouTuber Andrew Tate. Moreover, he was also accused of misogyny.

After appearing in this video with the controversial YouTuber, Andrew Tate, the community jumped to attack Ocelote because, let’s remember that Tate is known for his comments against women.

At first, he responded to the criticism by stating that he should not answer for who accompanied him in the recording. Still, the Spaniard ended up rectifying, assuming what happened.

According to G2 Esports, the new leadership structure is ready to lead the organization to tremendous future success.

Words from the new G2 Esports management team

Alban Dechelotte said:

“G2 is truly a unique eSports organization, consistently pushing the boundaries in competition and entertainment; our legacy is rich with its combination of unforgettable endings and powerful stories that captivate the world.”

On the other hand, Sabrina Ratih said:

“It is gratifying to see us continue to develop and grow our global audience outside the parameters of eSports, building new digital touchpoints and leveraging our entertainment verticals as a multiplier.”

About G2 Esports

G2 Esports is a European organization of Spanish origin that started its journey back in 2014 under the name Gamers2. Then, in 2018, the organization decided to move to Berlin, aiming to be close to the main headquarters of Riot Games and Epic Games and focus on continent-wide competitions.

As we know, G2 Esports has lineups in different esports, such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Hearthstone, among others. In recent years, we have seen how different big-name investors have entered the organization, such as André Gomes (former FC Barcelona footballer).

Undoubtedly, an esports organization as important as G2 Esports urgently needed the appointment of a new boss. Although those doing this job in the interim did not do a lousy job, a principal figure is necessary to generate confidence and respect in front of the rest of the organization.
