Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng’s return to the LCS has so far been successful despite all the skepticism surrounding it, as he propelled 100T to second place in the LCS 2023 Spring Season.

Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, the legendary North American bot laner, made a comeback during the 2023 LCS Spring season. After spending two years off the summoner rift, he decided to join 100 Thieves’ LCS roster alongside fellow veteran and former teammate Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, igniting a great deal of hype for the upcoming season.

The AD carry’s absence from the game for more than two years initially caused many fans to have second thoughts about his return, despite all the excitement to see him back in a professional setting. Given his extended absence from the professional arena, Doublelift acknowledged that he had low expectations for his in-game performance during an interview with the LCS broadcaster Travis Gafford.

One game after his LCS comeback with 100 Thieves, Doublelift reclaimed his place in league history, boosting the hype surrounding his return. He became the third player in LCS history to surpass 2,100 kills with his second kill in the match against Cloud9. As far as the key performance metrics are concerned, Doublelift is currently ranked 12th in the LCS with a Kill/Death/Assist ratio of 5.8 and kill participation of 75%.

Comparing him to FlyQuest’s ADC Prince, the best ADC in LCS according to Doublelift, he appears to be not far behind the competition, although he may require time to catch up and regain his old form Doublelift recorded 38 kills and a 41.3% kill share percentage, which was the second-highest in the league behind the prince’s 45 kills and 45.9% kill share percentage.

100T’s promising performance after Doublelift’s comeback

The North American team’s fans were eager to see if Doublelift and Bjergsen’s combination could help the team reach the same height of success, as they helped Team Liquid in their golden era. Based on their performance during the first three weeks of the league, both of the veteran players have been leading 100T in the right direction.

100 Thieves have won four and only lost two of the total six games they have played so far. The team suffered defeats at the hands of the heavyweights FlyQuest and Cloud9, while they registered convincing victories over Immortals, Dignitas, TSM, and Team Liquid. The squad is presently ranked second after the third week of regular play, with FlyQuest taking the top spot with an unbeaten 6-0 record.
