The radical changes in the League of Legends lineup of Evil Geniuses for the LCS Spring Split 2023 have officially begun. Undoubtedly, the fourth-place finish in the Spring Split has taken its toll on this team that was undoubtedly aiming to be crowned champions.

However, the team’s restructuring has started from the top, that is, from the coaches who manage the players in the games. Evil Geniuses has announced that both Aleš “Freeze” Kněžínek (Head Coach) and Albert “H4xDefender” Ong (Assistant Coach) will leave the organization after the “failure” of the team in the Spring Split.

While it is true that they have only announced these two changes, likely, we will soon begin to see the departure and entry of players to the team.

Evil Geniuses announce the departure of Freeze and H4xDefender

In the last few hours, Evil Geniuses announced the departure of Freeze and H4xDefender, the team’s Head Coach and Assistant Coach, through a statement on Twitter. Both coaches joined the organization weeks before the Spring Split, so their adventure in EG lasted only a few months.

This announcement, undoubtedly, makes official the message published several days ago where the organization promised its fans to make radical changes in its staff to improve the team’s performance for the LCS Summer Split.

In addition, rumors are getting stronger and stronger that many of the players (four to be exact) could be changed in the coming days.

About Freeze

Freeze signed with Evil Geniuses shortly after the team finished in third place in the LCS Summer 2022, after losing in the Lower Bracket final to 100 Thieves 2-3. This result caused the organization to decide to make changes to its technical staff ahead of the start of the Spring Split 2023.

Freeze was an ADC player who played much of his career in the LEC. However, his best years as a coach were with 100 Thieves since, as an assistant coach, he helped the team win its first LCS championship.

There is no doubt that this news affected the coach, as shortly after the announcement, he responded with a Tweet that he was very excited to fulfill the 2-year contract he had with EG. In addition, he said that this kind of thing can happen in an esports organization.

About H4xDefender

On the other hand, we have that H4xDefender had a somewhat inconspicuous career in the LCS. He wasn’t one of the most prominent Junglers on the scene, but he was always there to do the job for the teams that needed him. On the other hand, his beginnings as a coach were in 2020 for Team Liquid Academy.

H4xDefender mentioned on his Twitter account that this kind of thing happens. He also thanked the entire coaching staff, including Freeze, as well as the players of the team, for all the good things he experienced during this time in the organization.

In light of this announcement, Evil Geniuses has not yet commented on who will be the coaches that will take over the squad or the players that will leave the team. However, we will likely have more information about it in the coming days.
