Where MIBR have failed in recent time, FURIA have been really successful. With 12 points, they are currently sitting on the top of ESL Pro League NA. The Brasilians have won every one of their matches so far, which includes victories over Cloud9, Triump, Liquid, at Evil Geniuses just yesterday. They have thus ended EG’s 14 map winning streak.
ARE FURIA THE STRONGEST DOMESTIC TEAM NOW?
At the moment, no other team can reach their level, at least when it comes to the regional competitions. Their strong form was actually not that visible at the start of the league season, as they had two quite easy opponents in Cloud9 and Triumph. But last weekend, they achieved a surprise victory over Team Liquid, in which Henrique “HEN1” Teles impressed with a 1.60 rating.
Now, FURIA have also defeated Evil Geniuses. On Nuke, the results were decisive, after HEN1 had secured the 16-8 victory for FURIA with his 1.98 rating. It’s been quite some time since we have had the pleasure to see him perform this well.
On Inferno, EG struggled to get into the groove again, getting only 5 round wins on the board in the first half. On their T side, however, they finally got going, but failed just one round shy of overtime. Again, HEN1 was the one to show them the exit door by securing a close 16-14 victory.

At least the second map wasn’t such an embarassing display for the EG players as the first one. Still, FURIA just look much better right now. This weekend, they will lock horns with Gen.G. After having defeated their two biggest opponents in this season, Liquid and EG, they should have an easy time in the league and maybe even lock in first place foor good.
WHERE ARE LIQUID AND EG?
The two teams are currently sitting on 6 and 9 points, respectively. But Liquid have only played 3 matches so far, so the season is still wide open for them. The only problem that these two teams face is that they’ll have to go up against each other during the last match-day. If they fail to collect enough points now, the will have a hard time catching up to FURIA. After all, one of the two teams will have to admit defeat and miss out on 3 points on September 22.
ESL Pro League NA continues with Gen.G versus 100 Thieves today. While 100T seem to be stablizing right now, Gen.G are severely weakened by the departure of Damian “daps” Steele. The IGL has removed himself from the active lineup and now, the team has to quickly find a replacement. In the meantime, they’ll probably have to settle for a stand-in.
