The Philippines’ queens of MLBB had once again proved why they are worthy of the title as Smart Omega Empress won the SILAB: Road to MLBB Women’s Invitational or MWI Philippines tournament.

Smart Omega Empress swept TNCZ4 FE, 3-0, in a best-of-5 grand finals in Makati City, Metro Manila that determined which among the Philippines’ all-female MLBB teams will represent the country in the worldwide MLBB Women’s Invitational, which will also be held during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

From the start of the game, the Empresses showed dominant form as Gwyneth “not ayanami” Diagon showed mastery of her Terizla pick, which allowed her to get a 1/1/6 KDA and be that game’s MVP.

This 13-minute round proved to show off the Empresses’ dominance, scoring a total of 14 kills against TNCZ4’s 1 kill. Kaye Maerylle “Keishi” Alpuerto mastered objectives by missing all but one, while TNCZ4’s Trina “Ramici” Ramos took only one turtle.

By the second game, Mery “Meraaay” Vivero showed why she was the captain of the Empresses as her Akai pick was on top form, contributing six times in a 12-3 masterclass against the female members of the Phoenix Army.

Omega closed out the match in game 3, with Sheen “Shinoa” Perez’s Harith pick proving to be the difference maker. Shinoa’s Harith emerged invincible with a 4/0/7 KDA record in that 15-6 game which lasted close to 15 minutes. This allowed the Empresses to close out the game and eventually win the qualifiers.

This year’s MWI only has one slot available for a Philippine team. 256 all-female squads from around the country, coupled with five teams from MPL Philippines franchises competed to get the said slot, which will see Filipinas try to win the lion’s share of the US$500,000 prize pool in Riyadh.

This is Smart Omega Empresses’ third overall MWI participation, and the first with their new head coach, Salman “KingSalman” Macarambon, a former MPL Philippines and Team Secret MLBB pro player.
