Melbourne, Australia’s premier gaming lifestyle festival returns with a bang.

The world’s leading esports and video game entertainment company, ESL FACEIT Group announced in a press release March 13th that DreamHack Melbourne will once again be held in the city from April 26-28.

“Set to be held at Melbourne Park, DreamHack Melbourne will return for the third time after a multi-year agreement was reached between Visit Victoria, the primary tourism and events company for the State of Victoria, ESL FACEIT Group, and event promoters TEG Live,” EFG said in a statement.

“We’re thrilled to secure DreamHack in Melbourne for the next five years because it brings tens of thousands of gaming and esports fans from around the world into the city to enjoy our unique hospitality, energy and atmosphere,” said Steve Dimopoulos, the Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events. He added, “DreamHack is a global digital games brand and is another addition to our blockbuster calendar of major events for Victoria in the coming years.”

A whole host of video game, esports, cosplay, and creator-focused content await attendees of DreamHack Melbourne 2024, as the event will feature a massive gaming expo featuring the latest in tech and AAA games, an Artist Alley featuring local artists’ creations for sale, a massive Bring-Your-Own-Computer LAN tournament, and an esports stage in Margaret Court Arena featuring some of Australia’s best pro gamers.

Fans of cosplay can look forward to an expanded offering at this year’s festival, with a new ECG Qualifier offering qualification into the international Extreme Cosplay Gathering competition hosted in Europe. Canadian cosplay star and popular cosplay tutorial author, Kinpatsu Cosplay will also attend the festival as an official cosplay judge.

After a massively successful alley at last year’s festival, Artist Alley will also make a return to DreamHack Melbourne in 2024. Playing host to a wide mix of Australian, New Zealand, and International artists, Artist Alley celebrates self-authored art, offering attendees the opportunity to browse and purchase a wide range of unique artwork.

DreamHack Melbourne will host a wide range of esports competitions in 2024, from open-entry tournaments at the festival’s famous Bring-Your-Own-Computer LAN zone, to pro-tier competitions in Margaret Court Arena. ESL Challenger will return to pit some of the world’s best Counter-Strike 2 teams against each other over three days, whilst the League of Legends Circuit Oceania will host its Grand Final live on stage at DreamHack Melbourne.

DreamHack creates a world where the gaming community comes to life. The festivals, featuring everything gaming under one roof, create an arena where you can come to connect, explore, win, play a part, and be yourself through a gaming lifestyle experience. Attendees meet their favorite creators, experience professional esports tournaments, amateur and varsity gaming tournaments, world-famous bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party, cosplay championships, panels, art, activities, expo, screenings, live music, and more.

Nick Vanzetti, SVP & MD of ESL FACEIT Group Asia-Pacific Japan, said of the event, “We’re thrilled with the support of the Victorian Government, through Visit Victoria, that has been vital in securing another 5 years of DreamHack Melbourne. The scale and duration of this long-term partnership illustrates the Victorian Government’s commitment to support our growing industry, and cements Melbourne as the premier destination for international gaming & esports events in Australia for years to come.”
