Esports organization TNC Predator has confirmed that it will be taking a break from Dota 2 competitions, with the step having been taken in order to give its players time to rest. Speculation had mounted that the team had disbanded, while others talked up potential roster changes. However, this is not the case, with the org having confirmed the hiatus in an attempt to “recharge and realign”.

It is understood that the team will return to action following The International 10, in time for the start of the 2020 Dota Pro Circuit. TNC previously failed to make it through to the highly-anticipated The International, after finishing as runners-up in the Southeast Asia last chance qualifiers. The International was recently moved from Stockholm to Bucharest due to coronavirus restrictions.

How TNC missed out on The International 10

The additions of Marvin “Boomy” Rushton and Jun “Bok” Kanehara half way through the season did spark the team into life. They recorded some good results at the WePlay Esports AniMajor, having previously failed to qualify for the opening major of 2021. TNC ultimately suffered a crucial defeat at the hands of Fnatic I the regional qualifier grand finals.

With TNC Predator having not featured on the list of teams competing at the Summit Pro Series Season 7, fans had feared that the team would be no more. However, while we will not see TNC for an extended period, they will return Speaking on the announcement, TNC stated that:

“A lot has happened since the pandemic breakout and we want the players to use this time to be with their families, take a much needed break and build the best versions of themselves as preparations for the next big fight. You guys won’t be seeing any Dota action from us anytime soon but we will be taking the support role for the remaining Filipino players and Southeast Asia teams competing for the TI10 Aegis.”

What the future holds for the TNC Predator roster

TNC’s players will still potentially be able to act as stand-ins for teams during the hiatus, while many will look to enhance their following on streaming platforms. Support Timothy John “Tims” Randrup recently featured for Neon Esports.
