Overwatch 2 wants to reward their loyal fans, as to celebrate the Lunar New Year, they have announced that players can get some legendary items on Twitch.

Players will have to watch some of their favorite Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch to get them.

Lunar New Year

A new year has begun, and Overwatch 2 is launching its latest event to celebrate Lunar New Year: Year of the Rabbit. If you’re a frequent Overwatch 2 player, this is no surprise, as Blizzard has been hosting an annual Lunar New Year event in recent years.

Just like previous editions, this new event brings themed skins and some cosmetics. However, while players can get more skins during the festivities, these drops on Twitch offer the community another way to earn in-game loot.

Announcement on Twitter

The game’s official Twitter account announced the next batch of legendary drops that Overwatch 2 will release for its fans. According to the developers, players must tune into the Twitch channels enabled for these drops between January 11 and January 25.

These cosmetics include:

  • Moira’s Lion Roars Victory Pose after watching two hours.
  • Mask Dancer Moira (Legendary) watched four hours of Twitch content.

Now, you know they are available. So, yous can rack up the hours on Twitch with a Battle.net linked account to get the cosmetics.

On the other hand, if this seems like a long time to you, well, it’s not. Remember the Twitch event Escape from Tarkov? In this event, players were forced to watch 10 hours of streaming on the platform to get the rewards for each day.

The official statements from the developers of Overwatch 2 were:

“You can earn these new drops right away on Twitch. But you must have Ramattra unlocked to access these new drops. You can earn Ramattra at tier 45 on the Battle Pass or unlock him immediately when you purchase the premium Battle Pass.”

“We have an exciting season planned for Overwatch 2, and we can’t wait to share our work with you, including additional Twitch Drops coming later in the season! Catch up on all the specifics in our Season 2 Preview blog, or hop over to the patch notes to see the live changes.”

The new event has yet to kick off

What’s curious is that these drops on Twitch don’t coincide with the launch of the Lunar New Year event. The players can start watching the Twitch streams to unlock the rewards mentioned above. But the event doesn’t begin until January 17. We note this in the roadmap Blizzard released for Overwatch 2 Season 2.

There is no doubt that this is a way to respond to a lot of community feedback regarding how “difficult” it can be to get skins in Overwatch 2. While Blizzard has made some changes to the in-game store, many players feel insufficient.
