Chess Master banned by Twitch because of Dr. Disrespect

Chess master Hikaru Nakamura was banned by Twitch for watching banned streamer Dr. Disrespect play chess against Dr. Lupo on YouTube. The Doc caught wind of this and decided to cheer up the chess master with a little gift.

Hikaru gets banned because of Dr. Disrespect

Dr Disrespect and Twitch publicly settled their legal dispute on March 10 of this year. The streamer was banned from Twitch for unknown reasons, which is why he eventually moved to Youtube, where he has also been successful for quite some time. Not much is known about the settlement of the lawsuit, but still Dr. Disrespect remains banned on the platform. He is not allowed to stream or even show up on any other stream. GMHikaru knew this, but still risked a ban to watch Dr D play chess live.

On March 16, Hikaru watched Dr Disrespect play against fellow YouTuber Dr Lupo. Fans were very worried that Hikaru would be banned, but the chess master just said that he didn’t care. Hikaru even gave the Doc some tips in his stream, comparing Two-Time’s gameplay to Call of Duty and advising him to use all of his pieces instead of focusing on just one. Hikaru praised Docs by saying he had a “very good basic instinct.”

At first nothing happened, but then Hikaru did get banned for showing the Doc on his stream. Dr Disrespect, in turn, caught wind of this and decided to send the chess master a gift because he was given a three-day ban, so to speak, because of him.

Doc sends bourbon to cheer him up

After Hikaru was banned, he explained that he assumed he would be allowed to stream Dr. Disrespect’s content and that Doc just wouldn’t be allowed to be live on another stream, “Doc tweeted that things were settled with Twitch… guess he was wrong. See you in 3 days”. It wasn’t entirely clear how things stood with the rules regarding Den Doch after the lawsuit was settled.

The Doc was obviously sorry about that and he let Hikaru know that he would send him a bottle of Black Steel Bourbon. Dr Disrespect is known for his love of bourbon and had often told how much he would like to start a bourbon business. It’s not clear if it’s a homemade bourbon, but fans assume that’s the case and are happy that the streamer is supporting his colleague after the ban.
