Twitch has come up with something to improve the experience for viewers a little bit. The platform is currently testing ways to let viewers snooze ads within videos. Streamers will also have the option to make pre-roll ads less disruptive. This should make the streams more pleasant.

Twitch has revealed details of what’s coming this year, including the ability to pause ads. In addition, SoundBites should make the streams more interesting and versatile.

Twitch ads should be muted

There will soon be a way for viewers to be notified of incoming ads and be able to snooze ads. This means that you could then postpone the advertising to a later time, similar to the cell phone alarm clock in the morning, if you don’t want to get up yet.

Twitch’s statement read:

“We’re also exploring ways to give communities a heads up when ads are coming and the ability to snooze video mid-roll ads.”

Pre-roll ads can be disabled

Over the next few months, Twitch will be making also changes to the platform in terms of advertising. The first update concerns the way pre-rolls can be disabled for Twitch channels. Streamers who serve three minutes of advertising per hour can opt out of all pre-rolls. It also means ads will no longer be split into 90-second ads every 30 minutes.

Twitch’s frame-by-frame experience is also applied to many of the pre-rolls seen by viewers. Twitch also wants to make it easier for its streamers to let their viewers know when they’re creating branded content. With the ability to mute ads, Twitch aims to fuel the growth of streamers this year. In addition, new functions such as Sound Bites and Creator Home are to be brought to the fore.

SoundBites are designed to make streams more exciting

In addition to less advertising, the streamers should be promoted this year and given the opportunity for more growth. Specifically, the plans said:

“In the first half of 2023, we’re launching products and tools that make it easier for you to earn without impacting growth, while also improving many of our existing products by expanding their capabilities so they can work harder for you.”

Sound Bites is set to get its big moment this year and be introduced to the community. With SoundBites, viewers can donate and pay money, and then there’s an interesting sound that pops up in the stream. There will also be a change to the cheering system to make it easier for streamers to better recognize their fans.
