The coach of Natus Vincere, Andrii “B1ad3” Horodenskyi, has finally confirmed what everyone suspected: that Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev will continue to play for the team in the coming months, at least until the end of the next Major.

IEM Rio Major 2022 is scheduled to take place between October 31 – November 13 and Na’Vi’s current roster can certainly win it. For a while, people were wondering why the CIS organization wasn’t saying anything about sdy and whether or not he will be signed, but now it’s clear that he is likely to stay for the long run.

Sdy’s Impact on Na’Vi’s success

So far, Na’Vi have played two tournaments with sdy as their fifth player and the results were impressive. They weren’t ideal, but the team came close to winning both titles.

At BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2022, sdy did well and the rest of his teammates were able to do their part with very few setbacks. Despite the fact that this was sdy’s first tournament with the team, everything went well and the result was a huge success.

Normally, teams need weeks or even months to integrate a new player and reach a level of proficiency that allows them to compete against the world’s best and win. But in the case of Na’Vi, the transition happened much faster.

The team was left without its captain, Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov, and had to find not only a new player but also a new way of playing CS:GO. So naturally, it was assumed that for at least a few months or even until the end of the next Major, Na’Vi were going to underperform. But the exact opposite happened.

At IEM Cologne, Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and his teammates nearly won the title. The battle was decided in the last few rounds of Nuke, which was the fifth map of the Grand Final.

Na’Vi’s chances at the Rio Major

If everything goes well, Na’Vi should do well at the upcoming CS:GO Major. There’s no reason for them to miss the playoffs or get eliminated before the semifinals. Based on the result, sdy’s fate will be determined.

Right now, Na’Vi’s players and managers probably can’t quite believe that sdy really is good enough for their team. And they might be afraid that the first two results were an accident. But if Na’Vi finish in the top four at the Major, it will be obvious to everyone that sdy fully deserves his place on the roster.
