One more team may have the chance to be part of the biggest MLBB esports event ever following the announcement over the weekend of a Wild Card format for the 2024 Mid-Season Cup (MSC), formerly known as the Southeast Asia Cup.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang developer MOONTON Games announced Saturday that the MSC 2024 Wild Card and MSC 2024 Main Stage will run from 28 June to 14 July 2024.

“The winning team from the MSC 2024 Wild Card will advance onto the Main Stage to duke it out against 15 other participating teams for the coveted championship title,” MOONTON Games said.

China, Malaysia, Mongolia and Turkiye all have one slot each, while the Latin America, EECA (Eastern Europe/Central Asia), South Asia (Bangladesh/Nepal) and Mekong (Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam) will also each have one slot.

Host region Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will have 2 slots – and so will world championship countries Philippines and Indonesia.

Cambodia, China, EECA, LATAM, Malaysia, Myanmar, North America, Singapore and Turkiye will have 1 sure slot each in 2024 MSC.

As earlier reported, the 2024 MSC will have a US$3 million prize pool – the biggest so far in MLBB esports history.

The prize pool allocations have also been revealed, with the winner taking home one-third – or US$1 million – of the said prize pool. The said amount is a one-off event to commemorate the inclusion of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the Esports World Cup, MOONTON Games said.

The 2024 MSC runner-up will win US$500,000 – surpassing the top prize for even the M-Series World Championships.

The MSC had traditionally been the mid-season highlight for the worldwide pro leagues for MPL, of which the most dominant region has – and still is – Southeast Asia. In 2023, teams from all over the world competed in the MSC, which was held in Cambodia.

MSC 2024 brings the said tournament to the Middle East – its first outside SEA.

The Esports World Cup is a global celebration of competitive excellence and esports fandom. For the first time in the history of esports, Esports World Cup features a unique cross-game competition structure that will pit 2,500 elite esports athletes against one another across multiple game titles for the largest-ever prize pool. Debuting in summer 2024, gamers, publishers, and fans from around the globe will come together in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to crown the world’s esports champions.
