A few hours ago, the LEC confirmed that the co-streaming of the Spring Split matches of Spanish teams KOI and Team Heretics would continue on their respective Twitch channels. For now, this formula has worked to perfection for both the LEC and the organizations, and the rumor is that they are exploring options to see if other teams want to join this test.

LEC extends co-streaming trial with KOI and Team Heretics to Spring Split

Following the success of the co-streaming broadcasts at the 2023 season opener with KOI and Team Heretics in the LEC, Riot Games decides to expand this test to include the Spring Split starting Saturday, March 8.

KOI and Team Heretics have been great hosts of the LEC in this regard, as they have gathered up to 200,000 viewers on their streams in recent weeks.

Artem Bykov, the LEC commissioner, said:

“We are satisfied with how the joint telecast has developed and look forward to continuing the trial.”

On the other hand, Bykov also confirmed that the Spanish clubs would continue to stream their games on their respective channels, i.e., Team Heretics on their Twitch channel and KOI on Ibai Llanos’ channel. In addition to these two teams, some more could be added soon for the Summer Split since, according to the commissioner, the LEC is communicating with the teams in case they are interested in doing this type of content. Undoubtedly, this is an excellent opportunity for both the teams and the LEC.

Co-streaming with KOI and Team Heretics increased viewership in the Winter Split 2023

If we look at the viewership numbers for the broadcasts, we can see that the reach of the broadcasts increased so much that it came very close to doubling compared to the 2022 season. But, likewise, Bykov points out that the program is still a test and that they must wait for the results of this Spring Split to decide regarding the summer season.

There is no doubt that this move is wise, specifically with KOI, as its owner, Ibai Llanos, is one of the most popular streamers in the world today and has a large fan base. Moreover, this is coupled with the fact that his team is competitive and aiming very high in this 2023 season.

Team Heretics is not far behind; with 27-year-old veteran and popular player Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, the team captures the attention of many Spanish-speaking fans.
