The ESL Pro League S18 playoffs are in full swing, and after an exciting day for the announcement of CS2, we also had plenty of excitement in the last two matches of the day in the Round of 12.

Monte Esports and MOUZ released a pleasant surprise by beating Complexity Gaming and FaZe Clan, respectively, to seal their tickets to the ESL Pro League S18 Quarterfinals. On Monte’s part, this is nothing more than a dismissal after not getting the desired results in recent tournaments. Meanwhile, MOUZ reaffirms its high level by defeating the powerful FaZe Clan squad.

In addition, it is also worth noting that CS marked the series between Monte and Complexity:GO’s general connection problems since, precisely at the time they were playing, Valve was shutting down the game’s servers to launch CS2 officially. As a result, the series had to end in a CS:GO in offline mode, without loadout, inventories, M4A1-S, CZ, and much more. However, the players decided this, as they did not want to have to play 2 BO3 today, September 28.

Let’s see what happened in the Monte and MOUZ matches in the ESL Pro League S18 Round of 12.

MOUZ apply a clean sweep against FaZe Clan

There is no doubt that this match generated a lot of expectations, as MOUZ is at an incredible level of play, while FaZe Clan is not performing at its best. However, we all know how capable FaZe’s international squad is. Likewise, MOUZ went above and beyond and applied a clean sweep to qualify for the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs.

It all started in Mirage, the map pick of MOUZ, where we witnessed a first half full of emotions and, above all, a great balance in the game that ended with a tight score of 8-7 in favor of MOUZ. Then, at the change of sides, FaZe Clan’s T Side was not up to the task, and MOUZ took advantage of the situation to take an excellent victory by 16-10.

The second map, Inferno, was completely marked by Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo and Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás of MOUZ, who deployed all their potential to annihilate FaZe Clan and complete the clean sweep. In the first half, MOUZ got a solid partial victory in their CT Side by 10-5, which they then completed with a resounding 6-0 at the change of sides to take an excellent victory by 16-5.

Monte defeats COL by 2-1

As we mentioned, the series between Monte and COL was marked by the fact that it was extended until the moment when Valve shut down the official CS:GO servers to launch the worldwide CS2. As a result, the match was delayed and had to be played by default, i.e., without loadouts, skins, M4A1-S, and much more. Still, Monte Esports prevailed to take the 2-1 victory.

It all started in Ancient Monte’s map pick, where the Ukrainian squad gave a real lecture to take a solid 16-7 victory. Monte took an excellent 9-6 partial victory in the first half on their T Side. Then, at the change of sides, the Ukrainian defense repelled all North American offenses to take the victory by 16-7.

In the second map, Overpass, things took a 180° turn, as this time, the boys from COL gave a master class on the servers. In the first half, the North American squad achieved a spectacular 13-2 partial victory, a score that, as we know, is difficult to overcome in CS:GO. However, at the change of sides, Monte showed signs that they could do it and won 7 rounds. Finally, this was not enough, and COL took the victory by 16-9.

Anubis

Finally, Anubis was the map that defined the series and sent COL home and Monte to the tournament’s quarterfinals. Monte took a partial victory in the first half by 9-6. Then, at the change of sides, after 13 rounds of give and take, Monte took the 16-12 victory to stay alive in this ESL Pro League S18.
