Treant Protector is currently ranked sixth in Dota 2 in terms of win rate. Players pick him in 10% of the games and win around 54.25% of the time. Statistically speaking, this makes Treant one of the most desirable support heroes.

However, he’s not always played in the safe lane. Almost half the players go to the offlane and thrive with him. The reason is easy to understand: this hero has excellent sustainability and deals a ton of damage in the first 5-10 minutes of the game.

The biggest strengths of Treant Protector

Treant Protector, much like Tolkien’s Ents, is a remarkable hero. He can keep anyone on his team, including his towers, alive for much longer thanks to Living Armor. Just put a few points in it and you can give 6 – 8 armor to anyone in the laning phase, as well as +3 or +4 HP per second at the first two levels.

At level 2, the ability lasts for 20 seconds, which effectively means that one of your allies could benefit from 80 HP and 8 armor. For the first 5-10 minutes, that’s extremely overpowered. Because you’re basically increasing their effective HP by more than 50% and you can do it no matter where you are on the map.

This is a global ability that can save anyone on your team. Just pay attention to what is going on somewhere else while staying safely inside the trees.

At level 3, Leech Seed will create a 500 HP difference between yourself and your opponents. That’s because you will get healed for a total of 250 HP and they will receive 250 damage over a period of 5 seconds. They will also get slowed by 20%, and if you combine this with an Orb of Venom, hardly anyone will escape your wrath.

Treant Protector has one of the highest base damage scores in the game at level 1. You will deal around 90 damage without any items. This allows you to invest in stat-giving items and ideally some movement speed. Treant absolutely needs a Wind Lace at the start of the game. Otherwise, everyone will kite you.

If you can make yourself faster, you can destroy games in just 5 minutes. Because your damage will allow you to smash people without worrying that they’ll fight back. In any 1v1 or 2v2 situation, you are very likely to win the trade.

Needless to say, Treant’s ultimate is one of the best in the game. It’s similar to a Magnus ult but has a better radius.
