PlayStation continues its expansion into esports, this time with its new YouTube channel. Three days ago, PlayStation presented its channel on the YouTube platform, focusing on esports.

For Sony, this would be its first channel for content creation focused on esports. The channel is expected to showcase a wide variety of content, including interviews with gamers and video game guides not included in other PlayStation channels.

PlayStation continues to expand into esports

A new YouTube channel may not mean a big change for some people. However, this PlayStation channel is crucial in Sony’s expansion into eSports.

Since the channel’s launch, a video has been added every day. Currently, all people can enjoy three videos.

The first video is about PlayStation’s introduction to esports, where they welcome all fans. In addition, they inform the type of content that can be seen on that channel.

In the second video, they explain how to play esports games on a PlayStation console. In a few words, it is a guide that explains the step-by-step that users must follow.

The third video, which can be enjoyed on the PlayStation channel, shows a small summary of the company’s different partnerships. For example, PlayStation’s partnership with Fortnite to make the first Zero Build tournament. It talks about women and their inclusion in esports, among other things.

Sony moves in the direction of esports

For some time now, it has been possible to see how Sony has taken steps toward esports. However, it is important to note that since Sony showed interest in the esports industry, it has not stopped working to position itself.

The company purchased EVO, the largest FGC competition in the world. But, on the other hand, the company has also introduced INZONE, its line of hardware.

But that’s not all; in 2022, Sony released a line of headsets and monitors designed to be used by esports athletes using the brand’s console.

Following the launch of INZONE, the brand partnered with the Evolution Championship Series; it then joined forces with the Guild Esports organization to launch a VALORANT tournament.

In the summer of last year, Sony made another move and bought Repeat.gg, an esports events platform. This purchase aims to improve the tournament and event offerings for esports players.

As we commented earlier, Sony has not stopped growing in esports; all its purchases and partnerships have demonstrated this. Now, it is reinforcing its path toward esports with its new YouTube channel.
