The League of Legends EMEA Championship, or LEC as we all know it, continues to run its course this season. With the Winter Split 2023 very close to its end, many fans, players, and teams are looking back to analyze everything that has happened this season.

We do not doubt that the most surprising so far has been the early elimination of Fnatic, a team that attended 9 of the last 10 Worlds that have been contested.

Players have come out to apologize

During the last few days, different team players have come out to explain and apologize for what happened. The clearest examples were Martin “Rekkles” Larsson and Ivan “Razork” Martin. This is the first time in Fnatic’s history that the team has missed the playoffs.

After three weeks in complete silence, the next person to come out to express his experience about everything that happened is Javier “Dardo” Zafra, the team’s coach.

Dardo made clear that, in view of the catastrophe that had arisen, he tried to create some synergy among the players heading into the end of the regular season.

Dardo said:

“I think the biggest sadness came after losing to Astralis. However, it’s not that I gave up and said it was over because I know that, with the quality of players we have, you can always beat any team at any time.”

On the other hand, Dardo was a bit drier with his later statements, as his coach asked if the team could improve.

“I didn’t know if they could get to a point where they were more functional. The problem is that we are completely dysfunctional, and I haven’t found a solution.”

What’s wrong with Fnatic?

It seems evident that within the organization it seems that some things are not going as expected. And this likely has nothing to do with the game itself.

There is no doubt that now the organization will have enough time to reflect and find the solutions to all the problems they may have. However, the Spring Split 2023 is still some time away. In addition, members of the community claim that the team did not adapt to the new goal of the game, so the team may be hoping for a new update and, consequently, a change of goal.

On the other hand, Elias “Upset” Lipp, for example, is still on the team’s bench, which could be one of the first modifications of the team for the Spring Split 2023. If this happens, one of the team’s leading players, i.e., either Rhuckz or Rekkles, will have to leave the lineup.

Rekkles, for his part, could move to the Support position, a role he has been considering for several months. He is one of the most viable options for Fnatic to solve this situation in which they are immersed.

There is no doubt that in the coming weeks, we will likely see some drastic change in Fnatic in its lineup for the LEC Spring Split 2023. However, for all League of Legends lovers in the EMEA region, we wish to see this iconic team at the top of the table again.
