The Dota 2 scene is getting increasingly corrupted due to different match-fixing cases. This time, different reports indicate that many matches in the EEU region are also full of corruption.

While it is true that match-fixing reports were reported in the Chinese scene, now everything points to the fact that this problem also exists in the EEU. Undoubtedly, this continues to hit one of the esports that has established itself as one of the most popular in history.

Match-fixing ring hits Dota 2 scene

The latest information regarding match-fixing in Dota 2 came from popular YouTube content creator Morf.

While it is true that the video is completely in Russian, many community members helped in the translation for the rest of the fans to understand the situation. The video shows much evidence and serious accusations of match-fixing in the Dota 2 scene, both in EEU, China, and NA.

According to Morf’s video, he managed to infiltrate a private Discord called The Red Book. This group is where players from the EEU region join to play Dota 2 matches. However, in this group, there is one member named Anton Monetin, the former Winstrike Academy coach.

According to Morf, Anton was talking about match-fixing in the region. Upon seeing this situation, Morf and his agent managed to get in touch with this person to learn more about what he was talking about.

To Morf’s surprise, Anton began offering his “services” of “betting” on rigged matches. But, of course, all this is in exchange for large monthly profits. As the conversation progressed, Morf’s agent estimated that Anton could earn up to $4,000 a month thanks to his match-fixing betting network. Moreover, these did not just match in one region, as Anton offered this service in the China, NA, and USA regions.

Match-fixing in NA

Match fixing does not escape from any corner of the world, and Morf’s agent, through Anton, was able to learn that the main team involved in the NA region in match-fixing was Thiuth Gaming. This team reportedly got a spot in the DPC Division I in NA to perform match-fixing at the highest competitive level.

As a result, the team performed poorly (due to purposely losing due to match-fixing) and were relegated to Division II. Finally, the team was disbanded a few weeks ago.

CIS region also affected

According to the information exposed by Morf in his video, some HYDRA players are included in match-fixing reports. He further alleges that HYDRA starting players were paid to lose matches.

But this is not all; five of the eight participating teams were involved in match-fixing in a NEON LEAGUE tournament.

Undoubtedly, this is a hard blow for the Dota 2 competitive scene in different regions of the world. In addition, these allegations could also serve as an opportunity for Valve to activate its investigation center in different regions to ensure that everything is carried out legally.

Recall that Valve has recently cracked down on many players involved in match-fixing. In addition, Valve recently banned more than 40 players in the Chinese scene for this very problem.
