The large map of Warzone 2, Al Mazrah, can hold 150 players at the same time. This map is set in a fictional situation where many zones and landscapes can be found. The areas on the map range from large deserts, small rivers, and cliffs to urban areas with high-rise buildings.

However, it seems that not all of the Al Mazrah map is fiction, and many points of interest suggest it has taken some inspiration from the real world.

An Iraqi Warzone 2 player has taken it upon himself to compare game areas with real-world areas. The user “PINETREE808” has shown certain images similar to some areas of the Warzone 2 map. Despite not being an exact reproduction of the location, parallels are frequent in the terrain’s buildings, design, layout, and topography.

Usually, game developers collect samples from various places in the world to create maps with ecosystem balance.

If you want to know which areas of the map have been inspired by real life, read on.

Warzone 2 Al Mazrah Zones Inspired by Real-Life Locations

When Modern Warfare 2 was released, the game developers updated the map collection and kept some of the players’ favorite locations. However, to make the new title stand out, they created a new battle royale map; players have many locations to get some good loot on this map. These locations have a great similarity with some areas of Iraq.

The cemetery of Wadi Al Salam in Iraq is considered the largest cemetery in the world, and the cemetery of Warzone 2 is very similar. Furthermore, the whole city of Al Mazrah has a similar shape to the city of Baghdad; a river separates the city in two and is connected by a bridge. Another area of the Warzone map that shares great similarities with the city is the in-game museum; it has a structure very similar to that of the largest shopping mall in Baghdad.

The huge battle arch and the main entrance to Baghdad have a strong resemblance. In turn, the overall design of Rohan Oil looks like an exact copy of the oil refineries in the Middle East. But that’s not all; the port looks exactly like Umm Qasr’s port in Iraq.

The observatory is located on a hill and has a very similar design in both structure and color. At the same time, the deserts in the game are similar to ruined areas in Iraq as they show destroyed buildings in real life. The map designers seem to have taken quite a lot of inspiration, even from the most rural areas of Iraq.

More similarities between “Al Mazrah” to real-life locations

Many more places in Al Mazrah have likely taken inspiration from real-life locations. It is that great similarities arise so that players can experience, in some ways, a much more realistic combat experience.

Also, if we look much closer at Al Mazrah, we can see how the geographical pattern of the map and the amazing daytime scenery is extremely comparable to Iraq.

In short, it can be said that the developers of Warzone 2 have taken all the time to capture the smallest details of Iraq and reproduce them on the map.
